I’d like to thank some of my favorite Los Angeles locals – Vibes, Pocahaunted, Pizza!, and Magic Lantern – for delivering one of the greatest shows that I’ve had the honor of witnessing and luckily being a part of. Thank you to Not Not Fun for being the best and thank you to those who were there, and followed the show to the resulting house portion of the night for Magic Lantern. Finally, thank you to the Museum of Neon Art in Downtown LA, you’re the sweetest group of folks! Review after the jump and pictures to come one day…

Not Not Fun Art Show

In addition to having just released U.S. GirlsMe +Yoko 7″, Not Not Fun has some sweet happenings up their so so fun sleeves.

we are curating a wacko group art show for the launch of Kim Gordon’s new clothing line and the exhibit/party starts Saturday April 11th. it’s free, and Pocahaunted will be playing at 8 PM if you wanna come. we’ll have tons of NNF shit for sale plus artwork obviously. swing by if yr a swinger.

also worth noting: Tuesday, April 14th our dearest high art couple Andrew & Helga from Metal Rouge are having a launch party for their new zine project Hunters & Gatherers at the sweet Synchronicity gallery on Melrose and both Metal Rouge and VIBES will be playing. it’s free too, so come if you wanna.

a million more new releases are grinding through the manufacturers’ maw, so keep yr ears tuned for updates and ideas.

You God It Kind Of Vibes

Sweet sweet news from Not Not Fun Records. There’s a bit of a NNF supergroup a’brewin called Vibes that may include Amanda from Pocahaunted – we’re a little head over heels for the NNF gals if you haven’t noticed. Their debut cassette release, You God It, is intended “for all lovers of soul, soul funk, funk, funk rock, classic funk, and outsider funkadelics.” Chris from GvB explains it best as “garage soul jams” for those with a taste for Ducktails, Pocahaunted or Sun Araw. 100 copies were made and are already sold out, but with some sleuthing you may be able to find a copy. For more information I suggest checking out Raven Sings The Blues.

According to the Not Not Fun homepage, a book entitled Spooky Face is in the works. The front page to the website is a picture drawn by Diva Dompe (blackblack) and looks like a great discovery that you may find at the Smell or Family Bookstore one day. Also, NNF’sters need a place to crash during SXSW. If you have a place in Austin with extra room then hit Amanda up at amanda@notnotfun.com, or go here for all the info.
