I consider myself an appreciator of the freak arts; I love early Animal Collective, These Are Powers and lots of other sounds that I hear a lot of smack about. It’s been a long time since I’ve uttered these words, but I do not understand Emily Wells’ cover of “Juicy.” I just sorta wish she said “nigga,” but feel free to form your own opinion.
I found this related video, a ukulele cover of “Juicy” that I’m totally down with. Take a lesson Emily, smile and have a good time when you dance with Biggie! And yes…this girl says nigga.
So I’ve given a shout out to the alt girls and a shout out to the ukulele, but what about the bros? Here’s a cover of “Big Poppa” that you may or may not want to forget three-and-a-half minutes from now. Isn’t this the lead singer from Crazy Town?
I DJ’d in Bed Stuy last night, and appropriately this is the track that I closed my set on.
Notorious B.I.G. & Frank Sinatra: Juicy – New York, New York
And these are completely irrelevant to the post, but hey…Juicy.
