all your walls will burn

Our pals in The Morning Benders video recorded the inspiring and gorgeous recording process of “Excuses”, the opener to their forthcoming Chris Taylor (GrizBear) produced Big Echo. The tune features backup from Christopher Owens of Girls, John Vanderslice, and way more folks who we really shouldn’t recognize right off the bat. You can also catch our dawg4lyfe Timothy Rabbit on bass! I mean, he does play bass in the band…but it’s still really exciting to see him!

Speaking of Timothy Rabbit, he has tossed a lot of his tunes online for us to download freely! It’s Always Snowing…In Iceland is right here – aw, good memories – and 14 Rabbit Songs is right here. Light some candles and get loose.

fmly fest

It’s time for the FMLY to come together.

We’re nearing the end of the aughts and to put Thanksgiving to shame we’d love to embrace all of the kind folks, awesome jams and unique experiences we’ve shared together. We’d like to throw a real FMLY festival coming from the heart. If you have a zine, graphic design firm, tutoring biz, circuit bending club, bike co-op, vegan bakery, or just a love for all things respectful and communal then hit us back. If you have a band, art form, musical endeavor, journal, film, new sex position, installation that you’d like to share, we want it.

On December 27 and 28 at the new chill spot, 5011, FMLY wants to combine minds with everyone we’ve jammed with over time and toss as many new names into the mix as we can. Together, let’s write the last pages of this decade’s influence on us. Fuck yeah!

bicycle hero

Whether he’ll take the credit or humbly brush it off, Timothy Rabbit is a big part of what began the unusual cycles of live music which eventually led to FMLY. As a Berkeley graduate and current bassist for The Morning Benders, Tim not only grabs us through song but through the way which he conducts his life by proving to us that anything is possible with a little elbow grease…he also grabs us in other ways that are none of your business. Our favorite furry friend just posted a new demo to his space titled “Bicycle Hero,” and is featured on “Le the” from the French trio Peppermoon. One day we’ll post the collab made in Cameron’s garage some years back.

who is tim rabbit?

Timothy Rabbit at The Smell

As an alumni of Santa Monica High School, Timothy Rabbit is not only a pride of West LA, but a dear friend of the FMLY. Having played many of our first events back in the day, it’s been exciting to watch Tim transition from Los Angeles, to the Bay, to becoming comfortable with his sound and now playing bass as a part of The Morning Benders.

On April 4 Timothy Rabbit will hit up Downtown’s DIY darling, The Smell, for a night of “poption” (pop-action) with Franklin For Short, Enid The Dowl, Moses Campell, and an awesome surprise, Da Bears.

Tim records bedroom pop tunes concerning sweet feelings for friends, lovers and memories. If you’re the romantic or nostalgic type then try not to look Tim in the eyes when he plays, you may fall in love. Highly recommended for fans of Matty Pop Chart or The Histories.

The fbook event is here.

Hey, A Snow Day

Coming from Los Angeles the ’snow day’ is nothing but a mythical being that I could only one day wish to experience. Well, March 2, I just want to wish you and the world a happy snow day! Classes here in New York are cancelled leaving me with nothing to do but catch a few more z’s and present a mini-mixtape of relevant tunes that I really enjoy. A special track in here is from one of FMLY’s closest FRNDS, Timothy Rabbit, who you may know at the bassist of The Morning Benders. We’ve known Tim since ‘05 and are so proud of him, keep it up, wherever you are on tour! Also of note is satanstompingcaterpillars, lasting from 2000-’03 consisting of Tobacco and Power Pill Fist, three albums were released – the last of which contains several songs that would go on to become Black Moth Super Rainbow. Explosions In The Sky’s “Snow and Lights” would have been a great addition, but I take it you all have those notes tattoo’d by now, crazy kids…

Timothy Rabbit is Morning Bending

FMLY friends, The Morning Benders have made a new music video for their song “Waiting for a War”

They have also added a new bassist; our good friend Timothy Rabbit. Timothy Rabbit is a catchy singer song writer hailing from Los Angeles and Berkly. His style of cute indie pop will get your head bobbing and your girlfriend swooning.
