never forget the times i’m with you

It’s always a pleasure to put a new DJDT tune on blast ’round these parts, but two!? Oh man, what’s a kid to do…

Dropping tunes as hot as KE$HA, Jamie and Robert have without doubt produced some kind of underground electropop hit. It’s like something you’d hear repeatedly on your local radio station, but in your friend’s garage or basement! After Jamie gets out all of the catchiest hooks you can fit into a standard pop song, Fitted Kid chimes in with the auto-tuned point of view, all complemented by Robert’s mastermind for dynamics and taste. Shit is nuts and production is on it! Peep more tunes on the Exes‘ page, make it a guilty pleasure.

The Exes – First and Cherry (feat. Fitted)

Next jam is another premiere from a FMLY all-star, DJDT’s remix of Ludacris’ “How Low.” DJs, take note and press play. Man, I’m articulate when it comes to dance music.

Yo, we’re premiering a couple of new DJDT tracks today as well as announcing a remix contest for one of Robert’s other projects, The Exes. The first track to gently pull the sheet off of is an M.I.A. remix of “Jimmy” crafted by Robert that although extremely pleasant to listen to and way more awesome for the purposes of raging has this off-putting affect that I find oh so appealing. Super rad remix dude, and that’s coming from a guy that did not dig Kala.

DJDT – M.I.A. Jimmy remixxx

Second new tune was made by DJDT apprentice Noah Diamond aka the long haired dude with the camera that is also named Noah. Perhaps you’ve confused us on facebook? It’s called “Buttons” and if the lil’ bro is making music this crotch-moving at 16 (17?) 15 (thanks robert) I don’t even want to think about what’ll happen when he’s out of high school and Ableton 9 is out. Stay in school, don’t do drugs, be no baby’s daddy, etc…

DJDT – Buttons

Now for the contest. The Exes want you to remix their music or reimagine their tunes however your heart desires. Their fav gets posted to their MySpace and you get two free tickets to any FMLY show! Send your finished product to noah@thefmly.com and I’ll shoot ‘em over to the band. Here are the acapellas:

The Exes – An Honest Man (vocals)
The Exes – See My Eyes (vocals)

bns:
DJDT – Walking On A Dream Team (Empire of the Sun remix)
DJDT – Killers Remix Dude!
DJDT – A Milli (DJDT RMX)
DJDT – New Era (DTF remixxx)
The Exes – See My Eyes

where’s my guilty pleasure

“Yo I’m usually not that into the whole electro/indie thing but The Exes is on point. Good shit.” – Luciano Rodriguez

If you missed the Exes live set on FMLY’s Public Education last week, no worries, we’ve got a track from Robert to premiere for ya’ll. With My Dolls’ Jamie Leffler, Robert subtly trades his DJDT flipped-brim cap for an electro-acoustic pop crown. Dropping beats like seeds in an apple orchard (ha!) while Jamie reminds us why she’s not just a doll but the Doll, the Exes are making some straight up home-brewed anthems that just can’t be listened to without singing along. I will never use this word to describe anything again, but these Exes’ tunes are such bangers; my head is in a constant state of bobbing. Head to their MySpace page for another new track, “Honest Man.”

my HARD’s gone soft

We were required to shut down Hard Summer at The Forum last night by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. They declared the event a “hazard” after seeing concertgoers jumping from the balcony to the floor, along with numerous other potentially dangerous activities. The Inglewood Police Department backed the decision of the Fire Department and assisted in the clearance of the venue.

While we, the promoters, worked with the authorities to consider other options to continue the concert, ultimately they made the decision based on the safety of the concertgoers. We are happy to report that there were no major injuries.

We are offering refunds to all concertgoers.

anticipation...

anticipation...

The last words said by Hard Officials after a heart wrenching disappointment – HARD was officially shut down by the Los Angeles Fire Department all before midnight.

As I made my way unto the night and into Inglewood for LA’s HARD SUMMER FEST, I could feel the good vibes waving in the air. Candy bracelets here, and fury boots there. The creators of HARD Fest have really built a strong community of loyal fans.

I circled the Forum on foot three to four times, finding lines and lines of people waiting to get in. Finally, I got to will call to pick up my tickets. Now, the wait to get in. In the crowds of lines that didn’t seem to be moving, I suddenly see 50-60 fans  jolt in blurred figures right past me yelling, “RUSH!” They took down one of the fences and bum-rushed the security for a quick and easy way in (I was too slow to react with them).

After an hour, “YES I’M IN. Wait, I missed Crystal Castles?” “No worries, but where’s the music? No one is dancing, everyone’s a bit uneasy, how do I get down to the floor?” -thoughts that crossed my mind after two hours of waiting for Chromeo to come on.

In those few hours, I saw how this night folded out…more after the jump

walking on a dream

Australia’s Empire Of The Sun have created quite a stir this summer, whether it be from their Never Ending Story-esque album art or that seven minute remix from the Golden Filter.

Our close FMLY FRND, whom you should all be very familiar with by now, DJDT has cooked up a great remix – enough for my roomie to ask who it was! “It’s the dude that does that ‘Milli’ remix.” Robert’s game is on-point and his final products are certainly turning some tasteful heads. Thank you to the music blogs out there that are showing our homie support. I’ll leave ya with this new DJDT track as well as his latest from The Exes w/ My Dolls’ Jamie Leffler. Super awesome and gorgeous video of EotS’s “We Are The People” after the jump, shot in the towns of Garcia, Xilitla, and the Icamole Desert in Mexico.

jerk da jerk

DJDT made a video for that hot New Boyz track. So many versions out there I couldn’t tell you if this is a remix or the original, but the beat knows what’s up more than Soulja Boy ever did. Plus Robert, Charlie, and Noah Diamond crank out some moves not to be reckoned with – special guests at the end.

DJDT has a new mixtape out for June, hit up the MySpace blog to find the download link.

DJDT – Willy Whompa (feat Adam Haber)
Lil’ Wayne – A Milli (DJDT RMX)

And here are some other sounds from Robert’s projects, past and present.

I Just Shot My Sister And I’m Still Stabbing Her – Astro Burger (highly recommended)
Yes Means No – Lamar Odom Will Have His Revenge
The Exes – Kall Nichta
and for all you Kutting Room folk, here’s a flashback circa 2005.
Yes Means No – 3 Days Truckin’

and if you want to get all professional, then i guess 99% of these tracks are premiering to the blogodome through this post. in other words, download these tunes while you’re here because they’re sweet little gems that you may not come across again.
