It’s always a pleasure to put a new DJDT tune on blast ’round these parts, but two!? Oh man, what’s a kid to do…
Dropping tunes as hot as KE$HA, Jamie and Robert have without doubt produced some kind of underground electropop hit. It’s like something you’d hear repeatedly on your local radio station, but in your friend’s garage or basement! After Jamie gets out all of the catchiest hooks you can fit into a standard pop song, Fitted Kid chimes in with the auto-tuned point of view, all complemented by Robert’s mastermind for dynamics and taste. Shit is nuts and production is on it! Peep more tunes on the Exes‘ page, make it a guilty pleasure.
Next jam is another premiere from a FMLY all-star, DJDT’s remix of Ludacris’ “How Low.” DJs, take note and press play. Man, I’m articulate when it comes to dance music.
aria just shot this one over to me, and eric really mauled the tune in this truman peyote remix. it’s beautiful, like a melting wax sculpture or any image on glitterguts.
“I hope to refine music, study it, try to find some area that I can unlock. I don’t quite know how to explain it but it’s there. These can’t be the only notes in the world, there’s got to be other notes some place, in some dimension, between the cracks.”
-Marvin Gaye
The Universe is most commonly defined as everything that physically exists: the entirety of space and time, all forms of matter, energy and momentum, and the physical laws and constants that govern them. According to some speculations, this universe may be one of many disconnected universes, which are collectively denoted as the multiverse. Illnyckyj is determined by a struggle between the momentum of expansion and the pull of gravity. It is so well designed that it must have had a designer, the complete guide to dimension.
Among the “remix” elite (in my book) Illnyckyj rests with today’s chilled-to-the-max best alongside Quarterbar, Banjo or Freakout, and and James & Evander; rather than the remix these are totally epic re-imaginations. Gripping your previous attachments to the classic tunes, Illnyckyj coerces those feelings into a realm of Wes Anderson, group sing-a-longs, and teenage love affairs. Parallel dimension indeed…hop in and get wet.
Cop Magnet seriously keeps the juices flowing, the orange trees growing, and this site in a devastated mourning between tracks. Thrown out last night via the Cop Magnet MySpace is a new jam slash remix on my favorite tune of the decade, Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” feat Alicia Keys. However, this scenario brings us Cop Magnet’s “I’m Higher State of Mind” feat Philip Seymour Hoffman making this oversexed duo Philip Seymour Hoffmagnet…or Copffman? Let’s not get too Martin Scorsese right before Thanksgiving. This one brings together Boston and New York for a sweet lil’ collab that we’re happy to bring to you.
Whaaaat thhhheeee…totally did not see this coming. With remixes along the talent of Grouper, Panda Bear and Burial, Phaseone quickly become a producer to keep an ear out for and with the sounds of this mixtape he may have just dropped one of 2009’s best. Finding future anthems in today’s already epic sounds, Phase has this ability to give weed goggles to anything he comes by. Elaborating on complex progressions, building beats in the absence of rhythm and making it not only recommended but absolutely necessary to crank the volume are just a few reasons to fall in love with the dude. Don’t think about downloading this tape, just fucking do it – NOW! It’s killer. Ahhh, I just got to the Radiohead remix.
edit: i just smoked and began relistening. once you get to that to the raekwon x blind man’s colour blend it’s a whole ‘nother planet. and that’s only the third tune…
