there is dreams

It looks like we’re just going to keep postin’ videos today. Aria just sent me an email from overseas where he’s wrapping up his Railcars European tour quite nicely. The always adorably shot They Shoot Music just filmed a session with him on the epic “There Is Ice; It Is Blue”. Aria’s email, “wish i had been awake more than 20 minutes before doing this.” No worries dude, I’m gonna enjoy laying back with this. You’re here in spirit, man. I really dig hearing the initial soundcheck with The Cranberries’ “Dreams” as well, nice touch.

railcars – dreams (cranberries cover)
railcars – there is ice; it is blue

tune of the night

This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
-Alex, A Clockwork Orange (film)

railcars – cathedral with no eyes (truman peyote remix)

aria just shot this one over to me, and eric really mauled the tune in this truman peyote remix. it’s beautiful, like a melting wax sculpture or any image on glitterguts.

Professor Calculus at the TEST RIDE (photo cred. LA TIMES)

So the TEST RIDES came and went. We had a lot of fun, saw a lot of great music, and had some unforgettable experiences. If you were at the last ride, you might want to check out the LA Times article to see if you can spot yourself. Now, as the new year rolls in, it’s time for the FMLY RIDE to take over. Over the past year, I have seen so many new people start biking. Next year, bikes will take over, public domain will be reclaimed and humanity will emerge from the capitalist shell from which generations were born into.

The FMLY RIDE will take place on January 2nd which gives you the first to recover and gear up for round two. We will meet at the Albertson’s Parking lot on Ocean Park and Lincoln at 8 and ride at 9 exactly. You can check out a map here. This ride has some great surprises waiting at the end.

REMEMBER THE TEN CRANKMOBMENTS!
1. HAVE FUN – That’s is why we’re here! Let’s make sure that we can keep having fun by paying attention to the rest of these points.
2. BE SAFE – We don’t want anyone to get hurt, that includes you. If you or your bike are in no condition to ride, don’t ride.
3. BE RESPECTFUL – Respect the people around you and be aware of what you’re doing. Respect yourself and don’t get hurt. Respect the places we go to so that we can come back next month.
4. BE RESPONSIBLE – Your actions have consequences. They also reflect on the entire group so please be smart. If you spot anyone being unsafe or disrespectful, call them out on it.
5. COMMUNICATE – Call out hazards in the road. Call out the next turn. Call out if you’re slowing, stopping or starting to go. Call out everything.
6. PASS IT ON – If you hear someone calling something out, repeat it to make sure everyone hears.
7. LEAVE NO TRACE – Clean up your litter. Let’s leave this place like we were never here.
8. HOLD YOUR LINE – Watch where you’re going and don’t weave recklessly through the crowd. If you need to stop, slowly make your way to the right side of the road where stopping is safe.
9. STAY RIGHT – Leave the left lane open for passing cars. Please don’t ride into oncoming traffic.
10. SLOW DOWN – The party is right here, not up there somewhere. Stay with us and follow the ride leaders. They know where we’re going.
11. HAVE F.U.N. – Cuz it’s worth saying twice!

a message from railcars

hello.
i have for sale ten cassettes. each is hand-painted, numbered, and dubbed.
when you play the cassette you will hear railcars cover the entire 1985 album Hounds of Love by Kate Bush from beginning to end. also if you purchase one, on the upcoming european tour i will mail you a postcard from every city that we play in. that’s like, 30 or 40 cities.
you can’t get these separately, the cassette + postcards is one package, and there are only ten made. also there are no mp3 versions, sorry. each cassette is $47.
you can paypal it to ariajalali@gmail.com.
if this page is still up, there is at least one still available.

Railcars – Cathedral With No Eyes (Danny NO/FI Remix Part B)

railcars just wrapped up a two month us tour, will be joining the fmly dinner tour in january, and then peaces out for some serious time in europe. at least in europe they can ditch the honda accord. no doubt this tape is superb and if anyone reads this and gets one i will personally make you a mixtape, a fmly mask, and let you into whatever fmly show you’d like fo’ free. just ‘captcha’ (or whatever the word is) two windows: one with the fmly page and the other with a receipt of some kind.

fmly dinner tour

It’s time to announce something that we’re all very excited about, the FMLY Dinner Tour! As of January 5 we’re hitting the road with our sleeping bags, skateboards, bikes, tents and FMLY FRNDS to spread the good word on this lil’ cult that we’re all a part of and we hope that you can join us along the way. Here are the dates and please get in contact if you can help out in any way whether it be letting us crash on your floor, take a shower, food recommendations, setting up a house show, making a flyer, spreading the word, etc… all dates after the jump.

shroomin’ & railin’ peyote

While anxiously waiting to hear Truman Peyote’s new cassette, Everything Oozes, it doesn’t hurt to get a glimpse of what the haps is via their forthcoming New Wife New Life / I’m Gonna Be Okay split 7″ with the homies Turtle Ambulance. Taking the illustrious role of a b-side, “Steelstack” stays way true to a TP live show presenting a rhythmelodic structure fronted by a glitched out fanaticism of a killer carousel custom built for the most psychotic of burnt out PCP smokers. Lay back and protect ya’ neck, this one is going to be anything but a strung out ride. Thanks to impose for the heads up.

Truman Peyote – Steelstack

Caleb and Eric (EASYBOY) have been working on these jams separate from each other by way of Toronto and Jamaica Plains (Massachusetts). This split 7″ will see release on Breakfast of Champs on December 15, Everything Oozes on Mirror Universe in either Nov/Dec, and in January TP are dropping more delicious sticky jams on a Peaced Together split 7″ with Many Mansions on Whitehaus Family Recs.

Turtle Ambulance – Bueno Pues
EASYBOY – Markers

And hey, as long as we’re already talking about our pals I’m just gonna drop this Railcars remix and once again thank Jeremy Krinsley over at Impose for pretty much being the man.

Railcars – Cathedral With No Eyes (Danny NO/FI Remix Part B)

warm cycle

Props to Karla Santos for a super comforting visual complement to the gorgeous and ethereal Big Spider’s Back tune, “Warped,” that you might want to take your laptop under the covers for. “Warped” is the title track from Yair’s debut EP which drops today, available now at the way rad Circle Into Square.

Big Spider’s Back – Warped
Big Spider’s Back – Perfect Machine

If anyone happens to be going to Seattle or live in Seattle or have friends in Seattle Big Spider’s Back is playing an uber-sweet show this Thursday at Dreamstation 64 with ALASKAS (performing Set Yourself Free), Cole and our pals Railcars. Flyer after the jump. If you live within driving distance (Vancouver through San Francisco) I expect to see pictures and Youtube vids of you raging. And if anyone can direct me to a place where I could listen to Cole that would be much appreciated thanks Sam, Cole is cozy. If you haven’t taken advantage of the free download of Railcars’ debut EP Cities vs Submarines now’s your chance.

ALASKAS – Pronoun
ALASKAS – I Am Yours
ALASKAS – Unshackled
Railcars – There Is Ice; It Is Blue
Railcars – Bohemia Is Without A Sea
Railcars – Castles
Railcars – Passion of Saint Edmund (Miracles)
