satanstompingonrereleases

Two albums which a good number have folks have been scouring the internet for over the years have been re-released via Tobacco’s own Rad Cult imprint for a limited time, and don’t be afraid to call it destiny because they’re appearing on vinyl! “Originally a private press CDR from 2001, The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed was never properly released, and mainly just given out to friends. Some material made it onto the first real BMSR album, Falling Through A Field in 2003, but Autumn’s sound is more haunted and acoustic. Included on a specially etched record is EP, Sing To Us, an even less produced CDR made up of songs left off of the album.” These two collections which were originally under the satanstompingcaterpillars moniker are going to pop into the sold out section all too soon so a here’s a heads up to those interested – the shirt + vinyl deal will only be around for another two weeks. To be a fanboy for a sec I’ve never had the pleasure of hearing Sing To Us, but The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed contributed with ssc’s The Most Wonderfulest Thing to one of my lifetime’s favorite records thus far, Falling Through a Field. Magical music. Cop right here.

summer alert: allegheny white fish

I had started off really noisy and abstract with Allegheny White Fish. We were all so happy with ourselves for coming up with that name in 10th grade, but it wasn’t too funny 4 years later. Then ssc [satanstompingcaterpillars] was like my way to be more melodic all the time, and a little more serious. Then when it started to shift again into something I might be a little more comfortable performing live, I brought in the rest of the band and we changed over again. allegheny white fish: pittsburghese, condom floating down the river.

Allegheny White Fish is the high school project (pre-satanstompingcaterpillars, pre-Black Moth) of Tom Fec. I feel that I can use his name in this context because Tobacco certainly did not exist at this point.

This summer we’ll see a Tobacco release of The Allegheny White Fish Tapes CD, described as a “collection of tobacco’s high school tapes from 1996-1999. over 70 minutes of mostly unreleased/unheard broken ghetto-blaster songs. warped drum machines, purple noise, ripped cassettes, and melodies to calm you down. pre-black moth super rainbow, pre-vocoder, pre-synths, post-apocalypse.” The CD will be released by Rad Cult Records which raises the question if Black Moth is to Graveface, then what is Rad Cult leading towards? If you read our interview with Tobacco/BMSR then you may remember him noting a new project for next year.

Album art above, pre-order the CD here, tracklist after the jump. If you’re curious as to the sound of AWF, hit up Tobacco’s MySpace to hear “Braided Cellophane” or take another listen to Drippers‘ “I Saw Brown.”
