height of humanity

1771: Adolf Frederick, king of Sweden, died of digestion problems on 12 February 1771 after having consumed a meal consisting of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, smoked herring and champagne, topped off with 14 servings of his favourite dessert: semla served in a bowl of hot milk. He is thus remembered by Swedish schoolchildren as “the king who ate himself to death.”[via]

gangster music takes speed

Prodigy tells it like it is, real talk dawg. “I’m paranoid, and it’s not the weed. In my rear view mirror, these cars, they follow me.” I won’t divulge my relationship with Mobb Deep’s music, but Prodigy’s “Mac 10 Handle” has been a favorite tune of mine for the last year or so.

Imagine boarding a train in the center of a city. No racing to an airport and across a terminal, no delays, no sitting on the tarmac, no lost luggage, no taking off your shoes. (Laughter.) Imagine whisking through towns at speeds over 100 miles an hour, walking only a few steps to public transportation, and ending up just blocks from your destination. Imagine what a great project that would be to rebuild America. (via the pres)

Transportation. This is the latest graphic representation of the nation’s proposed high-speed rail corridors that have been the talk of the town since Obama showed his support at a press conference yesterday. I’m pumped to see how this plan develops, especially when it comes to keeping it green and economical. Maybe Obama should hit up Prodigy for some high speed railing advice?

IMEEM and FADER have created quite the interesting contest. Design any type of Ratatat Merch and win a customized bike? Dope. Contest rules here. I want to see some beer cozies, jellybeans, a new era fitted, or highlighters. If you take my ideas and win, then I call the ride on Fridays.
