Epic. Put on repeat for days.

this is how we trip

Psychedelics can be a touchy subject for some so I won’t carry on with this, but considering the weather and how energizing this summer was (it’s fall now, i think) it’s pretty tough to currently reject the idea of taking a brief nutrition from reality. In honor of our last playlist which was a compilation of weed summer jamz I have a ‘working your way towards psychedelics’ mix for ya called this is how we trip. No confusion, this is not intended to be a playlist to listen to while you trip as it’s way too self-aware but in the most appropriate manner I hope that it serves to get you in the mood. When you do get there, just make sure to have some vinyl or albums that you love to listen to all the way through prepped for action.

Safe and happy travels…

weed summer daze

The subject is brought up from time to time on this site, but due to a lot of the music we have covered this summer I think that this is an important time to be clear. I consider our relationships to sound, one another and even these writer-to-reader interactions to be romantic – it’s not quite as magical as word of mouth, but the intent that goes into each of these posts and your patience to read through them and find your way back here isn’t too far off from becoming enamored with a class at school or any other personal activity. An activity which we as a FMLY find to be a communal experience is our association with weed and the many varieties of. As the community which is FMLY we publicly remain silent on the subject, but if you’ve ever been to our shows we do not discourage the bonding – but please do not take that as an encouragement to be obnoxious. This is our ode to weed and the memories and good times we’ve shared while passing the bong in Cameron’s backyard, a joint around the campfire, a blunt at the beach, a steamroller in the car, a one-hitter at a show, a spliff while hiking in the mountains, edibles on a road trip, drinkables at rest stops and so on and so forth. Over the past two years at FMLY shows across the country I’ve had the opportunity to smoke with some of my favorite artists whom I only admire more after sharing such an intimate experience. Who cares about ‘getting high’ when the potent exposure to unique and affected experiences with your best friends, new friends and heroes is only a few leaves away; we don’t smoke to get high, we were high long before weed came into our lives.
