RCRD LBL just got on that Pat Grossi tip, aka our boy and fellow Angelino, Active Child. With two exclusive tunes, “Wilderness” and “When Your Love Is Safe” we’ve almost rounded out the MySpace jams to a playlist that’s permanently been left on repeat in my apartment (i wouldn’t be surprised if my neighbors could sing along). Like I said before, “these are the tunes that rest beyond jams. these are the frequencies that exist within all of us,” and I’m so stoked to hear Sun Rooms when it drops on Mirror Universe. Mirror Universe Tapes is always on the look out for the hottest jamz to magnetize and there is usually no lack of rad bands to do that to but we’ve hit a snag. We really want to release a hip hop tape, and finding good hip hop is proving hard to find. I’m talking dark and deep, fucked up beats that make you want to get dirty but make you go “What did he/she just say?” So, send me your demos but keep the Soulja Boy Fruity Loops beats to yourself, if your rapping about “bling and bitches” I don’t want to hear it. Weed Diamond is finished and ready to go! There are only a few copies left so head on over to the

Our November releases include Sun Mantra’s self-titled, Active Child’s Sun Rooms, and Sacred Harp’s Feast of the Green Corn. They’re all AMAZING releases and I will definitely keep you up to date when they become available.
Coming in the not too distant future are tapes from Pink Priest, Tan Dollar, Dead Gaze, Cough Cool, and Expensive Looks just to name a few. As always, updates will be given.
And, on top of all our regular releases Mirror Universe is proud to announce that we are compiling a tape to raise money for Charleston, SC’s very own public community space and venue, OUTER SPACE! All of the proceeds will go straight to Outer Space, it will be limited to 200 copies and will feature songs by Weed Diamond, Sun Mantra, Woodsman, Naomi Punk, Castles Underground, Toro y Moi and many many more. It will be $4 plus the normal shipping costs so be sure to pick up a copy when its available because you’ll be helping us have a safe place to have shows and other events!

Breakfast of Champs is a sweet new Jamaica Plains-based haven for bedroom players to release their tunes on 7″ and cassette tape; think Mexican Summer with less weed, Woodsist with more-fi and the kickass of Mirror Universe with the collectivity and bond of Underwater Peoples. Just wanted to give a heads up, expect to catch a Truman Peyote split 7″ with Turtle Ambulance in the near future as well as a cassette from Psychedelic Family. Other exciting news is that FMLY alumni Philip Seymour Hoffman and EASYBOY (among others) will also be dropping cassettes via Champs either late this year or early next – add the ChampSpace to keep up to date! This is so exciting, can’t wait to see what these dudes do with 2010.
