did i leave your mind when i was gone

If there’s anything I like coming home to after a night of Ninjasonik, Totally Michael, Boogie Boarder, Team Robespierre, Anamanaguchi, and others it’s a fresh track with Erykah Badu, but color me a second wind if The Roots are on the tune! Just checked in with Questlove via Twitter and it turns out that Erykah hit up the studio before appearing on Fallon Friday night to lay down a cover of “I Wanna Be Where You Are” from MJ’s solo debut LP Got to Be There in 1972 . The perfect track to end your weekend on, enjoy.

superbad timing

The Michael Jackson homage was your idea. How old were you the first time that MJ touched you…musically?

Jonah Hill: I’ve been obsessed with Michael Jackson, even the Jackson 5, since I was six or seven. The whole sound, the vibe, everything.

As a celebrity, are you inspired by his ability to avoid prison with his fame, money and power?

Jonah Hill: [Laughs.] Hopefully, I’ll never do anything that would put me in a position to go to jail. Is this whole interview gonna be about Michael Jackson?

According to original N.W.A member Ice Cube, a Jew [Jerry Heller] broke up the crew.

Jonah Hill: Oh no!

As one of the many Jews in your crew, do you fear that one of you will fuck everything up?

Jonah Hill: If you’re going by that cycle, I feel like it would have to be someone who was not Jewish. Paul Rudd’s Jewish, Jason Segel’s Jewish, Seth’s Jewish, Judd’s Jewish, Danny McBride is half-Jewish, oddly enough. But Cera and [Bill] Hader? Maybe.

Last week Complex Magazine shipped out their June/July issue across the country featuring no less than Jonah Hill on the cover challenging Michael Jackson as the king of pop culture…and then more pictures throughout the rest of the article. A friend of mine brought it by my place last night and all I can say is that someone has definitely lost their job. Peep it here.

Ben Gibbard – Thriller (Michael Jackson cover)

now head over to post-rockist to hear chuck klosterman’s (author of killing yourself to live among other outstanding credits) reaction to the events of yesterday.

Night of the Living Chromeo

This is a really sweet commercial that everyone should check out. It’s a quick tribute to Michael Jackson using a “new” song from, you guessed it, Chromeo. I won’t tell you what company it’s for, that’ll be a nice surprise.
