Breakfast of Champs is a sweet new Jamaica Plains-based haven for bedroom players to release their tunes on 7″ and cassette tape; think Mexican Summer with less weed, Woodsist with more-fi and the kickass of Mirror Universe with the collectivity and bond of Underwater Peoples. Just wanted to give a heads up, expect to catch a Truman Peyote split 7″ with Turtle Ambulance in the near future as well as a cassette from Psychedelic Family. Other exciting news is that FMLY alumni Philip Seymour Hoffman and EASYBOY (among others) will also be dropping cassettes via Champs either late this year or early next – add the ChampSpace to keep up to date! This is so exciting, can’t wait to see what these dudes do with 2010.
Truman Peyote – New Wife, New Life
Turtle Ambulance – Bueno Pues (download plates)
EASYBOY – Chest Swimmers
Philip Seymour Hoffman – Spring Break 2011 (download fire island, 25MB)

The Pearl Harbour sisters have released the name, album art (above) and label for the Something About the Chaparrals 12″ due out in the fall and the lucky winner is…Mexican Summer! Too bad they couldn’t hit up the Party In The Pines, but I can understand how it’d be difficult to lug piles of amps into Big Sur. Can’t wait for this one – one small step for weed pop, one giant leap for the ‘LA sound.’
Pearl Harbour – Lost @ Sea
oh, and i guess from here on out it’s pearl harbor, no more ‘u.’ aw.

After FMLY PRSNTS: BWR TH NVSN w/ Anamanaguchi, TRS-80, NEON NAVAJO and Professor Calculator there may or may not be a caravan heading north to Big Sur. The cause: Mexican Summer’s Party In The Pines with Gang Gang Dance, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Dungen, Woods, Kurt Vile, Vietnam and the list goes on a bit longer. Seriously, what the fuck. This sounds like the best party ever. Mexican Summer rocks. More info here.
Kurt Vile – Freeway
Woods – Hunover
Dungen – Om Du Vore En Vakthund
