This 4th of July weekend’s Captured Tracks/Woodsist festival boasts an awesome lineup of bands we dig – Psychedelic Horseshit, Blank Dogs, the Mayfair Set, Gary War, Dum Dum Girls, Real Estate, Ganglians, Tyvek, Vivian Girls, and Thee Oh Sees to name a few – and comes highly recommended by FMLY. Two day passes are $25 dollars, full lineup, location, and price of each day after the jump. After the date on 4th of July is an afterparty at the Market Hotel with ONADDES (listed as ‘tentative’), The Fresh & Onlys, Pink Reason and Babies (featuring folks from Woods, Vivian Girls, Bossy).
Another 4th of July option is catching a free show in Battery Park with Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band and Jenny Lewis. A Haim sister has been on tour with Jenny so show your support! Haim will also play FMLY Beach Dazed.
Lit Fuse Bike Shop has a 1pm show with Japanther, Ninjasonik, Ghost Mall and Muhammadali. Weren’t the Death Set on this as well?

Great interview with the cute cute cute cute Vivian Girls. Apparently while dating one of the Japanther boys, Cassie Ramone inadvertantly borrowed and destroyed a member of Mika Miko’s pants. DIY sisterhood of the traveling pants? In related news, Andrew WK and Nardwuar are releasing a split, Vivian Girls are playing at the Whitney with These Are Powers on July 31 (free), Japanther will perform Rock And Roll Ice Cream for a family program at the Whitney on July 11 ($10), and Mika Miko have some dates coming up which you can find in FMLY’s Show Listings that I’ve actually sort of updated.

We just got through partyin’ with our boys in Austin and it’s a thrill to bring them back to Los Angeles with the FMLY, not to mention provide you all with the REAL Japanther set that is owed after December’s freak dental emergency.
