fmly filled weekend

Saturday start your day right. Grab some instruments, frisbee, ice block, dog, lover and head down to Mary Hotchkiss Park in Santa Monica for a day for chillin, cool peeps, new friends and great music. It’s time for the return of Thank you, Come Again in LA.

The purpose of this event is to strip a concert experience to its birthday suit. We have a performer in their most vulnerable state, an audience, and communal activities for all! Nothing will be handled but good vibes. Remember that when you come to a fmly event, you represent fmly. To those of you who do show up with substances please keep them to yourself, away from the group, and don’t be the one that ruins the day for everyone.

Then after that, it’s time to head over to the FMLY RIDE to bring it through the night with some amazing music. This is a slow ride so if you are new, don”t be afraid, we play nice and welcome everyone. We got postponed last weekend from the rain but weather is looking great so we are back with vengeance bringing the addition of The Entrance Band with us. Also joining us is Rumspringa, Insects vs. Robots, Kid Infinity, 60 Watt Kid and a ton of others.

FMLY RIDE postponed in la

So the FMLY RIDE in LA has been postponed till next weekend due to the rain but don’t fret! Next Saturday is going to be epic beyond belief. The Entrance Band will now be joining us as well as a few other surprises. This will be a chill, slow paced ride so if you have a cruiser, skateboard, roller blades, etc. don’t let that stop you from having F.U.N.

This month we are playing cowboys and indians so Eastsiders, put on your 10 gallon hat and finest boots; Westsiders, get your war paint on and the bows and arrows out of storage. There will be babyhead spoke cards as always. If you are a new rider, don’t be nervous, we’ll take it nice and slow. If you don’t have a bike, bring your skateboard, rollerblades, unicycle or whatever other self sustaining mode of transportation you have. Everyone is welcome!

wine and shrine

Our longtime (we’re talkin’ elemenatary school) fmly and FMLY RIDE vets, The Shrine, just released a Chuck Dukowski produced and Insects vs Robots mixed 7″ single on that blue/greenish sort of vinyl that looks like it glows in the dark but you never really know until you turn off all your lights and have a seance to the Shrine, amiright? Really, this neighborhood effort is a beautiful thing and the final touches on these headbangers and mashslashandmoshpit anthems sort of makes me want to pick a friendly fight with my iTunes. Putting the tit back in attitude, this two-tune record packs some heavy progressions and meaty solos – so don’t say you weren’t fairly warned! Peep a video of side b, “Mirror Fits Like A Glove”, from their release show at the Echo Curio after the jump and you can pick up the 7″, shirts, buttons, and CDs right over here.

it’s the fmly ride, partner

Our monthly bike ride is back March 6th, bigger, better and more F.U.N. than ever. This month we will be having two meet ups. If you live on the Eastside of LA, you can meet at the corner of Spring and Cesar Chavez Downtown and if you live on the Westside you can meet at Cloverfield Park in Santa Monica. Both rides will be seeing some awesome bands while exploring different sides of the city before meeting up in the middle for far too much fun.

We may not be in the same city but we are all riding together. I know some of you were in LA when Koalacaust played the FMLY RIDE so you know you are in for a treat.

fmly fest

It’s time for the FMLY to come together.

We’re nearing the end of the aughts and to put Thanksgiving to shame we’d love to embrace all of the kind folks, awesome jams and unique experiences we’ve shared together. We’d like to throw a real FMLY festival coming from the heart. If you have a zine, graphic design firm, tutoring biz, circuit bending club, bike co-op, vegan bakery, or just a love for all things respectful and communal then hit us back. If you have a band, art form, musical endeavor, journal, film, new sex position, installation that you’d like to share, we want it.

It’s that time of the month again where we tear ourselves away from the computer screen, head out of our houses and into Mary Hotchkiss Park in Santa Monica of our monthly series Thank you, Come Again. As tradition goes, Thank you, Come again is outlet free fun where the artist and audience become the same and something unexpected always happens. The purpose of this event is to strip a concert experience to its birthday suit. We have a performer in their most vulnerable state, an audience, and communal activities for all! Nothing will be handled but good vibes.

Remember that when you come to a fmly event, you represent fmly. To those of you who come with substances please keep it to yourself and don’t be the guy that ruins the day for everyone. This is a FREE DAY SHOW in a public environment. Come on time because it gets chilly late in the day!
and of course BYOI (bring your own instruments):

There will be group jamming throughout the day. Bring your instruments and/ or whatever you have lying around your house. Washboards and tambourines encouraged.

The performances we are aware of include:
BATTLEHOOCH
Insects vs. Robots
Spring Queen
Jack Littman
Gabriela Maia (Static Crow)
Gray Tolhurst
Romulus
Presstones
Jules Verne
Moses Campbell
THINGS
The Magic Johnson
Little Spoon Desserts Truck will also be swinging by.
