If you missed the ride last night, we were fortunate enough to have a number of super sweet photographers and film folk en route to deliver some sweet footage and “hey, remember that”s. Rolling through to Bergamont Station was a full on party with music pumpin’, riders cheering each other on, and not much traffic to impede our floating attitudes. Slang Chickens were fantastic and brought the enthusiasm which set the bar for the night. The Shrine melted faces and rocked out behind the Ross on National and Sepulveda, teasing me with the hope that we could one day experience such epic public jamming legally. Pulling up to Helm’s as Koalacaust kicked into action not only gave the outdoors one of their best sets, but incited a riot ending their last tune with a mass amount of cyclists hanging from the street lights (which prompted a police helicopter). Ben Oprstu ended the night with some heavy bass and casual beats, but before him…HORSE The Band. What can I even say to sum up seeing HORSE? I poured my free PBR all over Cameron.
Thank you Tony and Gabe for putting together a video of last night (above) so quickly. Also, thanks to PBR for the free beer at the last stop, everyone for coming out and showing me an awesome night, neighbors for not shutting us down, and all of the bands for coming out and rocking out for the fuck of it! Koalacaust are on a West Coast tour now, peep the dates here. RSVP for our next ride on Feb6 with HORSE The Band, Foot Village, Professor Calculus, Meho Plaza, Heroes + Heroines, Hiking, Funderstorm, and more right here.
Video of Koalacaust + lots of photos from Marino Pascal and Dustin Muenchow after the jump!
I hope everyone is still alive after last night… It’s a brand new decade so let’s do this right. Tomorrow night (Saturday) is the FMLY RIDE. You can check out the meet up above. We got lot’s of music, biking and free PBR and dance party at the last stop.

So the TEST RIDES came and went. We had a lot of fun, saw a lot of great music, and had some unforgettable experiences. If you were at the last ride, you might want to check out the LA Times article to see if you can spot yourself. Now, as the new year rolls in, it’s time for the FMLY RIDE to take over. Over the past year, I have seen so many new people start biking. Next year, bikes will take over, public domain will be reclaimed and humanity will emerge from the capitalist shell from which generations were born into.
The FMLY RIDE will take place on January 2nd which gives you the first to recover and gear up for round two. We will meet at the Albertson’s Parking lot on Ocean Park and Lincoln at 8 and ride at 9 exactly. You can check out a map here. This ride has some great surprises waiting at the end.
REMEMBER THE TEN CRANKMOBMENTS!
1. HAVE FUN – That’s is why we’re here! Let’s make sure that we can keep having fun by paying attention to the rest of these points.
2. BE SAFE – We don’t want anyone to get hurt, that includes you. If you or your bike are in no condition to ride, don’t ride.
3. BE RESPECTFUL – Respect the people around you and be aware of what you’re doing. Respect yourself and don’t get hurt. Respect the places we go to so that we can come back next month.
4. BE RESPONSIBLE – Your actions have consequences. They also reflect on the entire group so please be smart. If you spot anyone being unsafe or disrespectful, call them out on it.
5. COMMUNICATE – Call out hazards in the road. Call out the next turn. Call out if you’re slowing, stopping or starting to go. Call out everything.
6. PASS IT ON – If you hear someone calling something out, repeat it to make sure everyone hears.
7. LEAVE NO TRACE – Clean up your litter. Let’s leave this place like we were never here.
8. HOLD YOUR LINE – Watch where you’re going and don’t weave recklessly through the crowd. If you need to stop, slowly make your way to the right side of the road where stopping is safe.
9. STAY RIGHT – Leave the left lane open for passing cars. Please don’t ride into oncoming traffic.
10. SLOW DOWN – The party is right here, not up there somewhere. Stay with us and follow the ride leaders. They know where we’re going.
11. HAVE F.U.N. – Cuz it’s worth saying twice!
We have a very special giveaway for ya’ll…HORSE THE BAND!
Big ups and F Yeahs for Upsilon Acrux and All Leather supporting HORSE The Band for the release party of Desparate Living on July 31 at the Center For Arts in Eagle Rock. I just hope they know what’s in store… FMLY has a generous batch of tickets to give away for this show and you can claim a pair by shooting me an email at noah@thefmly.com with your best pickup line. I’ll select the lucky folks at random sometime on Wednesday July 29 so get to flirtin’! If you have bad luck, you can always purchase tickets here. I’m pretty sure they’re the most thrilling $8 you’ll ever spend, at least in America.
My favorite pickup line? You’re ugly, but I’m interested.
