Tomorrow night join us at the Tricot Showroom for a night full of fun and surprises. The Tricot Showroom is FMLY’s newest DIY venue and might be the best. There is some stuff going on that you would never expect.
FMLY Radio will be on Little Radio today with (hopefully for real this time) a live performance from [Post-foetus] and Este Haim from Haim (of course) will be dropping in as well. We got some new stuff today including new Dan Deacon and Este will be throwing down as well.
Next weekend join us at the Tricot Showroom [map] for a night of amazing music with The Bird and The Bee, Haim, The Damn Sons, and [Post-foetus] as well as a fashion show and a couple of suprises. Tickets are $15 at the door but you can save some money by getting them in advance here. Remember; When you are coming to the Tricot Showroom, you will enter through the alley. There is a parking lot on Main and 9th. Take that alley between 9th and 8th to get into the show.
The week after, we will be heading down to SXSW to throw a two night party at HiLo. The party will feature your best friends and FREE UV Vodka all night. Both nights start at 8 and go till we can’t stand up anymore.
FMLY On Your Body is coming up and it’s time to get your tickets in advance! If you’ve missed our Facebook spam and our hints within posts the past few weeks, we’re presenting a fashion week event with The Bird and The Bee, Haim, [Post-foetus] and The Damn Sons.
The Bird and The Bee were recently on Ellen, the Jimmy Kimmel Show and will be playing Carnegie Hall on March 7. Haim are a trio of sisters – 16, 19 & 21 – who continue to just impress me with their talent, motivation and spirit. They were recently mentioned on MTV’s Buzz Worthy and a part of this amazing LA based group can be found playing with indie folk heir Jenny Lewis. The week of On Your Body, The Bird and The Bee will be performing live on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, Haim will be on FMLY Radio and [Post-foetus] will perform on KXLU.
As you can see from the flyer, tickets are $15 at the door and $10 in advance. Facebook event is VOSS Water, presentations of upcoming fashion lines and models to gaze at for ages – so bring your A game! Also, check in for ticket giveaways and such…maybe even a chance to have dinner with your favorite FMLY writer?
“Don Diablo has officially become the most (over?) hyped dj/producer of 2009.” [via]
So where do I begin with Don Diablo? Well…he’s Amsterdam-based and his parents named him after Captain Beefheart, so if you’re not downloading his music already then I don’t know how else to hook you. He takes beat, ties a string around it, jerks it around in the water for a bit, lets the fish nibble on it and what comes back is not what went under, but a pearl…made of gold. I came across Diablo on the dancefloor, I don’t hide my passion for select Walter Meego tracks so when a new remix of “Girls” drops I am on that like your younger sister on Twilight. To get to my point, it’s never too late in the night for a dance party – this one’s on me. Speaking of on me, take a moment to RSVP to our next event, FMLY On Your Body featuring The Bird and The Bee, Haim and [Post-foetus].
Wordpress is giving me trouble uploading tracks larger than 1.3MB, which is pretty much everything I would like to post. If anyone is knowledgeable about this situation and can help out just shoot me an email, noah@thefmly.com.
Who says you’ve gotta wear a Dodger’s hat to represent your hometown! Send ‘em our way and we’ll sit them down and teach them a thing or two about rocking the L.A. greatness on our iPods, on our bills and in our hearts. Coming up very soon is an event that we couldn’t be more proud to have become a part of, Snow In LA! Now we’ve dropped some info here and there concerning the show but finally it’s time to announce and get everyone psyched. Snow In LA, following suit of Fuck Yeah Fest, Sunset Junction and dozens of other great festivals throughout the year is a brand new all ages music festival. Think of it as a pre-game to Christmas and New Years, a celebration of Channukah and Kwanzaa or just a day of great music, and we want to get you all involved! For the inaugural fest and with the help of our buds at Ghettogloss and The Tape we present you Daedelus, Busdriver, The Mae Shi, Rumspringa, Entrance Band, Fool’s Gold and Haim. All L.A. all the time baby, let’s do our city proud! This all goes down at The Echoplex on December 21 so start picking out what you’re gonna wear, there are gonna be some hotties in town from school for this one.
Last night saw the release of the long awaited Super Mash Bros EP and boy do those guys know how to partay! The show kicked off with Haim who played a lovely set as always, followed by Dracula Mountain who brought audience members to tears, had the room hugging and I even saw two girls kiss! However, no one was expecting the ultimate dance party that Super Mash Bros created so props to you guys, you deserve it! You can download your own copy of Fuck Bitches. Get Euros. by clicking the picture above.
I’ve got a couple of teasers for ya today. The first is from Parisians Goon & Koyote who’ve recently released their Wellness Is Wild EP packed with your weekend’s dance party. G & K handle the booty bass scene across the Atlantic and they hold it down along with the biggest players in the genre. Wellness features three self-produced and original tracks by the duo plus two remixes by Dre Skull and Dikulous’ Zulu. As promised, here’s the teaser to hold you over while you find out how you can buy this now.
