Thanks to everyone who came out to Epic Fest despite the weather. It was a super fun time and you guys made it really special. I love that the power going out on the block didn’t prevent anyone from having a great time. Sitting in a dark, candle filled room watching 60-Watt Kid play acoustic gave me warm fuzzy feelings and Tempo No Tempo’s cover of R. Kelley’s Ignition Remix was unforgettable. Next time you owe us the entire trapped in the closet series! Professor Calculus without power turned out awesome with three drum sets (watch out Foot Village!) and then the power came back on for our Brooklyn darlings, Grooms just at the last moment. If you guys missed this one, it was the first event at 5011 but you will have plenty more chances to check it out like in two weeks at FMLY FEST.

So, due to weather, the Grooms show tomorrow has changed locations to 5011, a brand new arts and music space run by The Magic Johnson/THINGS gang. This is gonna be good times island. We got $1 beer, grilled cheese sandwiches and a whole lotta good music. If you want to come for free, we are giving away a few tickets. Just email me at cameron@thefmly.com and tell me what you think of the rain.

Welcome to the unveiling of the FMLY Courtyard located in Los Angeles’ historic Filipinotown. During your stay, indulge in one of our many activities designed for your optimum pleasure. On December 12, FMLY will present a night of strangled jams and lacerated rhythms, where the schizophrenia of shaggy constructions and convoluted epics come together to fuck your shit up. On deck this round are Brooklyn’s Grooms (ex-Muggabears), San Francisco’s Tempo No Tempo, LA’s 60 Watt Kid, and FMLY babes Professor Calculus.
Don’t come too blazed, because upon arrival we will be discussing the trails for the night throughout the courtyard. Split into the four sections of the courtyard are the four bands, and it’s your responsibility to discover your place on the grid of these x and y-axis. This is going to get introspective, it’s going to get loud, and if you’re standing in the first three throws then you’re either going to get wet or get in the mood. In case the latter happens, our pals from Little Spoon Truck will be stopping by with desserts to tickle that sweet tooth.

Since the conception of FMLY we’ve had the privilege to do shows at a chocolate store, backyards, houses, lofts, studios, multimedia spaces, parks, bike rides and normal venues of course. We even took over an Asian imports warehouse once… Well we are very happy to announce our newest venue, the Courtyard in Historic Filipinotown right in between downtown and Echo Park. As we tend to do, this is not a typical venue, in fact it’s exactly what it sounds like. The Courtyard is a courtyard of an apartment building with amazing musicians and artists.
To open up this new spot right, we’ve got friends from all over the country. The first show will be on December 12th and will have some amazing music, art and food.
The line up:
: Grooms (Brooklyn)
:: Tempo No Tempo (San Fancisco)
::: Professor Calculus (FMLY)
:::: 60 Watt Kid (LA)
This is gonna get introspective, it’s gonna get loud, and if you’re standing in the first three throws you’re either gonna get wet or get in the mood. These records pull me into a dream…
Of course it’s ALL AGES and the Little Spoon Dessert Truck will be there too!
