Back in the day when FMLY began I had a piece every weekend called Flashback! Party Sequence – this is when misplaced !’s were all the rage. These posts are for every party in the country, every mixtape yet to be made, every mixtape that has been made and everyone who goes weekend to weekend trying to get a little lovin. I enjoy putting these together, hopefully you enjoy rockin’ out to them, so lets get back into the pre-2000’s!
First up is a little Pharoahe fuckin’ Monch, back in ‘99 when Internal Affairs dropped, holy shit. All I gotta say is press play and ‘get the fuck up’!
Girl Talk undoubtedly gave new life to Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” dubbing it over “Flashing Lights” and “15 Step” honors. Now that at least a verse has been ingrained in the minds of young America it’s safe to call this track a dance floor freak out, you’ll at least know who the real hip-hop heads are when a few start spittin’ Dre.
To end this week’s Flashback! Party Sequence is “Pony” by Ginuwine. Say what you will about the guy and his ‘too-on-point-to-be-straight’ dance moves, but there was a time when nothing got a two person bedroom party pumpin’ like a little Ginuwine. I was in elementary when this tune came out, so how do I know this? I made conversation with the bus driver from Westwood all the way to Crenshaw – her fingernails looked just like the mountain from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Seriously though, who needs to rap over Daft Punk when you have a sick beat like this.

I’m listening to the radio and it was just announced that Obama has declared that there shall be no interference with Medical Marijuana Dispensaries. If you were in Los Angeles during the later part of Summer then you hopefully heard about Blackwater raiding Organica (across the street from Costco) just hours before a San Diego court declared it illegal on a state level. Thanks Obama! If he has put this into effect federally then in the back of his head there must be some type of nation-wide plan for the decriminalization or at the very least dispensaries.
