As the colors in the sky fade to gray and the sun sets hours earlier, the sounds of Winter settle upon our habits. Former Ghosts, a super-trio lead by Freddy Ruppert (This Song Is a Mess But So Am I) and supported with Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu) Nika Roza (Zola Jesus), anticipates this cyclical reaction as if the leaves were meant to be separate from the tree. In the same vein of brutally honest vocalists like Dan Boeckner, Spencer Krug, Aria Jalali, and Jon Barba (to drop some favs), Ruppert creates a space that sincerely feels like home. There’s clutter and genuine confusion, but in the chaos lies a pattern; an organization and a method. Thank you for Fleurs, this record is everything I could have asked for.
