nacho supreme

Every show we take on we make sure we have pride for the bands that play. They are not just bands, but they are our friends and a part of theFMLY, McWorld has been the best example of this. We’ve had the privileged of sharing our shows with some incredible musicians, formal and informal. Sometimes a show will come together with some of FMLY’s closest members and that’s exactly what will happen on March 25th at McWorld. If you haven’t seen any of these bands live, you are in for a great surprise. Time to bring the party. Thanks to Geoff Geis for the great flier as usual.

it’s our dig

If FMLY ever made a pin-up calendar, Evan Voytas would most likely take the initial January photo. Then probably February through centerfold. Basically, we think this video is amazingly adorable and think everyone needs taste. Directing props go to Carlos Charlie Perez who just wrapped up shoot with a new Vampire Weekend tune.

tune of the day

How is it possible that a being with such sensitive jewels as the eyes, such enchanted musical instruments as the ears, and such fabulous arabesque of nerves as the brain can experience itself anything less than a god.
-Alan Watts

fmly fest

It’s time for the FMLY to come together.

We’re nearing the end of the aughts and to put Thanksgiving to shame we’d love to embrace all of the kind folks, awesome jams and unique experiences we’ve shared together. We’d like to throw a real FMLY festival coming from the heart. If you have a zine, graphic design firm, tutoring biz, circuit bending club, bike co-op, vegan bakery, or just a love for all things respectful and communal then hit us back. If you have a band, art form, musical endeavor, journal, film, new sex position, installation that you’d like to share, we want it.

On December 27 and 28 at the new chill spot, 5011, FMLY wants to combine minds with everyone we’ve jammed with over time and toss as many new names into the mix as we can. Together, let’s write the last pages of this decade’s influence on us. Fuck yeah!

pblks ftw

“…they should be taken with a grain of salt, he thought, because the most exaggerated speeches usually hid the weakest feelings — as though the fullness of the soul did not sometimes overflow into the emptiest phrases, since no one can ever express the exact measure of his needs, his conceptions or his sorrows, and human speech is like a cracked kettle on which we beat out crude rhythms for bears to dance to while we long to make music that will wring tears from the stars.”
— Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary

ALL AGES // 8PM // OCT20 // *ROUND ROBIN

Whaaaat, I guess it has already been a year since we partied last CMJ with DD/MM/YYYY, Rumspringa, The Hood Internet, Ninjasonik and more of our homies in Brooklyn…but we’re back and ready to kick some ass. This time, we’re doing shit a bit differently and showing the Lower East Side what’s up. Don’t worry Bushwick, we’ll be in you like swine flu and killin’ it the rest of the week!

This year we’re doing things a little different and bringing Los Angeles to New York as well as sprinkling the night with some good pals from Baltimore, Boston by way of Toronto and of course, Brooklyn.

This is night one, our official CMJ Showcase.
Part two are guerrilla shows throughout the week to be announced sporadically.
Night three is the raddest fucking duplex party of the fall.

WE ALSO HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF FMLY SHIRTS FOR SALE. GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WANT ONE.

abbot kinney festival sees fmly value

FMLY is ecstatic and honored to present our hometown neighborhood with our very own stage stage at the 25th anniversary of the Abbot Kinney Festival. We grew up attending this festival every year, Cameron’s parents once lived on Abbot Kinney and back in the day the street served as our skateboard highway for getting to the Windward Circle. We thank everyone who has made this possible, so come out and party!

If this is your first Abbot Kinney fest, it is FREE so come out and show support for the community while indulging in everything we have to offer. We will also be announcing something that we’re super pumped about as the date approaches.

the new dynamic sound

I’m a sucker for a girl that knows her Alan Watts – coughmarniesterncough – so when a Los Angeles and New Yorker (like myself) messages me to take a peek at his tunes and drops some Wattsisms…FUCK YES. Evan Voytas is on some kind of tip that I haven’t gotten the memo on, he’s like Coconut Records for dudes (and their girl interests)! Don’t get me wrong, I dig Coconut Records but I’d never blast Nighttiming in the car like I’m doing with Evan’s tunes tonight. Our new Brodo Baggins has been featured on RCRD LBL along with our bestest bro Railcars, and like Railcars, you can catch Evan at our Beach Dazed event (RSVP) this Saturday. Download if you like shaking that ass to some summer’d out pop, or if you have synesthesia and want to see some dope colors. I’d also hope that by this point in our blogger-to-downloader-and-hopefully-reader relationship we have some trust established.
