Ah! So I’ll assume that this Tron trailer debuted at ComiCon this past weekend. Ahhhh! Daft Punk! See you in 2010.

It’s sort of ironic that this is coming just after my I strongly dislike Dim Mak post, but Thomas Bangalter DJ’d Busy P’s birthday on April 21 at Cinespace’s Daft Dim Mak Tuesdays. Hasn’t half of Daft Punk ever DJ’d at your birthday party or house? Brooklyn Vegan commenters are going to go to town on this one…

Get a good look at what’s going on underneath that suit of robot.

French electronica duo Daft Punk has been signed to write the original music score for Tron 2.0, Walt Disney’s upcoming sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 animation cult hit which was scored by electronic music icon Wendy Carlos. Daft Punk’s members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have been involved in various films before, but Tron 2.0 will be their first complete feature film score. The film, scheduled for a 2011 release, is helmed by Joseph Kosinski and will feature Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett. According to industry news reports, Tron 2.0 will play as the “next chapter” after the first film, with Wilde starring as one of the heroes trying to help fighting the Master Control Program, the evil intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the 1982 film. The assignment of Daft Punk to score Tron 2.0 has been confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores by Walt Disney Pictures. [via]
I just want to point out that Wendy Carlos (born Walter Carlos) is the bee’s knees of synsthesized music and if you’re not familiar with his&her work then I highly suggest reading up.
ITM covered one of the most important interviews of the year, Pedro Winter and his involvement with Daft Punk. After serving as the duo’s manager for 12 years the man in Banger steps down to focus on his label and career plans.
“The boys are in a studio in Paris at the moment,” he revealed to ITM. “And I can’t wait to listen to their new stuff! The good thing is that they are making music at the moment.” While those creative juices are flowing again, it’s not known at this stage when the new album might see the light of day. “They are slow, you know,” Busy P laughed when asked. “They are taking their time, and they have a right.”
Busy P also revealed that he recently decided to step down from the massive task of managing Daft Punk in order to allow him to focus all his energies on the Ed Banger record label. “I’ve stopped working with them really recently, because I want to focus and concentrate on Ed Banger and my artists, and my own career as Busy P.” But after managing Daft Punk for 12 years, it’s a safe bet that the relationship will continue to be a tight one.” [in the mix]
If you haven’t caught a wiff already, watch the Weezer video for “Pork and Beans” above featuring dozens of famous Youtube personalities including Daft Hands. Have a question about Rivers’ mustache? Well he’s quoted saying that his father had a mustache in all of his baby photos, so he’s committed to passing the tradition through his child.

So as I countdown the days until one of my favorite bands in the world release their new CD, it is becoming more and more difficult to follow the hype around it. As you’ve heard, Weezer will release their long awaited (still no contest to Portishead) and now confirmed Red Album (Interscope) on June 17, just the week before my birthday. The photo above is the first press shot of Weezer taken in 2008.
Recap of the amazing music that has come or is to come in 2008:

So after hearing about Kanye’s upcoming Glow In The Dark tour and what is in store for his performance, I’m either disliking his methods even more or just very curious to check it out. Here’s a few giveaways for what you can expect on the tour via Kanye’s blog (not his travel site):
-”ROBOT DESIGNED BY ACCLAIMED ARTIST CHRISTIAN COLON”
-”CREATURES BY THE LEGENDARY JIM HENSON’S CREATURE SHOP”
-”LIGHTING BY MARTIN PHILLIPS AND JOHN McGUIRE, RESPONSIBLE FOR LAST YEAR’S FESTIVAL ANNIHILATOR, DAFT PUNK’S PYRAMID, POSSIBLY THE GREATEST LIGHT SHOW OF ALL TIME!!”
Also note: “MY SET DOES NOT HAVE A PYRAMID IN IT OR ANYWAY FEEL LIKE A BITE OF DAFT’S SHOW.” & Kanye has worked on “RE-ORCHESTRATING EVERY TRACK 2 FOLLOW A NARRATIVE.”
Along with the new sets you’ll also find non-nude but still NSFW girls.
Also, there’s the music… AND RIHANNA!
I just really have nothing to say I am so furious right now.
What do you think?
