Fan made video for TheDeathSet’s take on Deadelus’ “Fair Weather Friends.” One of the sweetest live jams! Oh, and a really tight video – like if Octopus Project animated for Adult Swim.

Icarus’ father, Daedalus, a talented and remarkable Athenian craftsman, attempted to escape from his exile in the place of Crete, where he and his son were imprisoned at the hands of King Minos, the king for whom he had built the Labyrinth to imprison the Minotaur (half man, half bull). Daedalus, the superior craftsman, was exiled because he gave Minos’ daughter, Ariadne, a clew of string in order to help Theseus, the enemy of Minos, survive the Labyrinth and defeat the Minotaur.
Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son. Before they took off from the island, Daedalus warned his son not to fly too close to the sun, nor too close to the sea. Overcome by the giddiness that flying lent him, Icarus soared through the sky curiously, but in the process he came too close to the sun, which melted the wax. Icarus kept flapping his wings but soon realized that he had no feathers left and that he was only flapping his bare arms. And so, Icarus fell into the sea in the area which bears his name, the Icarian Sea near Icaria, an island southwest of Samos.
Get it? Got it? Good. Now reflect on how this lesson affects the day-to-day.

Hey we all love Daedelus, right? And what makes Daedelus so special? Well a lot of things, really. Besides the beautiful music he makes from samples he and others created he also performs his music in a unique way. Though Daedelus could be a solely laptop musician he instead chooses to use the Monome, a unique electronic music device. The Monome is a box that consists of 64 pushbuttons. These buttons can be used to trigger various samples and tweak the samples to make wild and wonderful sounds. Daedelus tiilts his Monome forward so the audience can see what he’s doing so electronic music becomes less of a hidden process and more of a spectator sport. Check out this cool video of Daedelus jamming on his Monome.

With the eyes of several Buddha statues looking on— the Booty Shaking commenced. This amazing space will house several of FMLY’s mixed media art and music events. From the high arched ceilings hung huge umbrellas and the room was scattered with an eclectic mix of Asian art and furnishings. In one corner, artist Alison Riemold covered a canvas a with a dark wash revealing an image inspired by the music of the night. We brought in our first night with big beats, kettle corn, giant pictures of old men smoking opium, new friends and Crank Mob. Intricate Machines started out the show with an energy that lasted the rest of the night. Every time I see [Post-foetus] it’s a surprise with a whole different set up and emotions that are felt so clearly you could swear they’re your own. Free the Robots hooked everyone, from heads bobbing to dgaf dancing, and then Crank Mob came just in time for Daedelus. It’s difficult to say where the best place to be was when he started; inside he gave an unforgettable show and outside there was a carnival of people dancing to speakers we had brought out back where Crank Mob did their thing. We’d like to thank everyone who came out, joined the FMLY and made it a truly amazing night. I’d also like to thank all the people who took pictures. If you have pictures, please send them to me at cameron@thefmly.com

Daedelus. Saul Williams. Pigeon John. frosty. Mia Doi Todd. Meet Adventure Time. One of my favorite “supergroups,” Adventure Time captures a great range of emotions with very little sounds. I just used “Eel Sand Witch” while re-scoring The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and thought it best to share the magic. I suggest putting your headphones on for this one, it’s gonna get minimal.
