If any teens are rocking the wamp these days it’s Henry Loofer, aka Shlohmo (ex-Shlomo, ex-Henry From Outer Space). Delivering abstract bass hits like phat bong rips Shlomo is showing California exactly how hard WEDIDIT does it. Henry’s Shlo-Fi EP recently dropped for free over at Error Broadcast Collective and I need to give major props on this tape for the use of obscure samples and Bibio versus Boards of Canada production. Shlo-Fi presents itself as a post-millennial approach to nostalgia, the contour of the tape itself following a circular rhythmic flow unconsciously burying its roots in “For You pt. 2.” Once again Henry has floored me…finals are coming up, take pleasure in these gems late at night when you can watch them glisten. Download Shlo-Fi in its entirety right here. For some reason wordpress makes it particularly difficult for me to upload Shlohmo tunes on the regular. Here are some Shlo-classics for ya, so go download the new jams!
ps. shlohmo is working with friends of friends right now on a lil’ something special. peep this fulgeance remix of “antigravity” that just poked its head up. after that check out this tokimonsta remix of “hot boxing the cockpit.”
I honestly have typed and retyped a way to convey the excitement that I’ve been carrying for the past week from this Bibio reimagination of Boards Of Canada and the only words I am left with are peep it for yourself. Bibio always does me proud.
We busted all over another two hours of new music. Keep sending stuff in! We had enough music sent in this past week to fill half the show but we will continue to listen to every shred of music you send. You can send physical CD’s to
Public Education
5700 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 200
Los Angeles, CA 90036
or email us some mp3’s to publiceducation@thefmly.com and then listen in on Sundays from 6-8 pm pacific time because we’ll be playin’ it.
You check out the playlist after the jump with a ton of downloads from the show. Enjoy!
Seams‘ video for “Glitch,” stitched together using footage from the public domain archives, seems to accentuate an impending doom due to our industrial reliance on computers. Yeah, we’re no worried about that one either. If you’re diggin’ these sounds, Seams has been ever so kind to let us download Juvenile Rush free on his bandcamp plus stems for the remixing heads out there. About a week ago I said I’d share his remix of Bibio’s “All The Flowers,” so here ya go. Seams would go really well in a live outdoor environment with Phaseone…damn, that’d be an attractive night. Throw some Dntel into that mix and well, I think I better keep the rest of that comment to myself.
If anyone from Time Warner is reading this, it’d be really cool if you could speed up my internet at least to the point where I can upload tunes longer then two mins. Luckily, this tune is the shit. Scratch that, the entire album is the shit. When Time Warner cooperates I’ll upload the Seams remix for ya’ll, it melted my face when I heard it last night.
