Creative force Will Wiesenfeld ([Post-foetus], Baths, Nephews) has just released a new Geotic full length for free online sportin’ ten tracks that clock in at around 45mins of atmospheric aural candy. Download Hearth right here. Cover by Jude Wiesenfeld.

and if anyone was at Sludge Mansion to catch Baths last night, Ary (Anamanaguchi) had his laptop stolen and could use all of our help getting it or the logic files back.

“heres a lil bit of ARTS yallz. i like to make trance songs as a joke, and sometimes they come out kinda serious. (gear: about %75 LSDJ and %25 lame software.)” -Ary
Ha, Ary (Anamanaguchi) made this sweet lil’ dance number and posted it to the web today via 8bitcollective. If you’re a proud owner of ‘guchi’s Dawn Metropolis, Ary composed “Mermaid” which is the final tune on the record. It’s rad to catch the similarities of the two pieces, but I’m really just trying to see another SWEET AMERICA show. Get in the zone, autozone?

“8-bit music is definitely the punk of electronic music.” – Ary Warnaar, Anamanaguchi
BWR TH NVSN is currently underway and to celebrate the homecoming of Luke, Ary and the ‘guchi bros I’ve arranged a lil’ mixtape for ya’ll with some of my favorite 8bit covers, tunes and a special track from Anamanaguchi. I’ve found that over the past few years many folks raging hard at Anamanaguchi shows, myself included, haven’t the slightest idea of what 8bit music is or even realize that there is such a larger picture – we just love what we hear and need more. For those who have heard these infectious sounds and are craving a fix, those who just came home from our show tonight or those who just love to fuck around with 8bit this is for you. By searching the blog you can see that I’ve put these together in the past hoping that one person out there finds something new to love, but with today’s collection I don’t think that’s an issue. Enjoy the hell out of these tunes, I rock hard to ‘em.
To celebrate, here’s a tune from the Anamanaguchi vault. It’s an old demo currently being revamped so look out for it at live shows and hopefully on their next release!

Come out come out, Los Angeles! Our Anamanabros are back in town and FMLY promised to show them a good time…you don’t even want to know what the arrangement is if they don’t crack a smile by the end of the night. Showing love for the evening are LA’s own TRS-80, NEON NAVAJO and Professor Calculus! This is the homie Luke Silas’ first tour and we’re hosting his ‘you’re at home muhfuckah’ party so come dressed to get wrecked.

Boogie Boarder are a Brooklyn foursome on the verge of releasing their soon-to-be-summer-splash entitled Pizza Hero! Been psychedelic’ing out to “Bio Hassle” for a cool minute now and can’t get enough of it. Album drops on June 23 and if you forget their name you need not worry because any trip to your local independent record store will result in the checking out of this quirky little album. And if not…then you’re lame.
Boogie Boarder – Bio Hassle
Our Chi-city pal Hollywood Holt dropped a rad tune that hasn’t only turned our summer on, but has successfully turned me on as well. While Cool Kid Chuck Inglish remixed Canada’s Drake, Mikey Rocks hit the decks with Holt and Dude Royal piecing together one of my favorite beat-thumpin’ & grindin’ tracks this year. Fuck Kid Cudi, Holt and Inglish are where it’s at! Don’t forget to hit up a FMLY interview with The Cool Kids right hurr.
Hollywood Holt – This Shit Is Easy (feat. Mikey Rocks and Dude Royal)
And here are some tracks that we’ve been bumpin’ plenty this week, hope you enjoy! Don’t forget to come out to the Museum of Neon Art tonight for FMLY’s Illuminate Your Night with Pocahaunted, Magic Lantern, Pizza!, and Vibes! Seriously, this lineup has brought tears to my eyes. For more info refer to the facebook event or a very sweet post on the show from Inflight At Night.
Casiotone For The Painfully Alone feat. Dear Nora – Hot Boyz (Missy Elliot cover)
Anamanaguchi – Danger Mountain
Girl Talk – I’m Ill
Rainbow Bridge – Big Wave Rider

Just when I thought that I could get back to finals Peter sends me an email saying dude with a psychedelic horseshit ton of u’s. Enticed, I opened it to find bewilderment in an Anamanaguchi remix! How do you remix an 8bit tune? I haven’t the slightest clue, but Ary remixed Peter on “Helix Nebula” a while back so maybe I’ll get an email in another half-hour with a breakdown of how it goes down. The driving beat sounds a lot like an old Glass Candy tune, but I don’t know the title. If you’re motivated enough I can tell ya that it started out The Hood Internet vs The Pack mixtape. I’m also all about the “mountain.” As some of you know, ‘guchi drummer boy Luke Silas has a project called Dracula Mountain that we’re big fans of – “Danger Mountain” now adds to this Lightning Bolt inspired resume. Check out Makeup and Vanity Set right hurr.

New York’s L Magazine just came out with their 2009 list of eight New York-based bands you need to hear and among them are FMLY vets Savoir Adore who played our CMJ showcase in October and Anamanaguchi who have been with us from, and even before, the start of this thang. Read the article here and check out the rest of the list along with videos after the jump.

Shave and a haircut, 8-bits!
If you haven’t realized it yet, we’re 8-bit connoisseurs! From Graffiti Monsters and Rainbow Jump Orchestra! to nordloef, Plamo and cow’p we like to wet our palette with many bits at once. For those who wish to dabble into the realm of 8-bit, I tend to stay within the boundaries of pop rather than appreciative stylistic electronics. However, these songs should offer you an awesome start! If you have any recommendations I would LOVE to hear them, feel free to comment or send me an email. The picture above is from an exhibit called “I Am 8-bit,” peep the gallery here.

Covered this track on a whim today. Wavves is a one-man noise/punk/bro from SD, so I went reallyreally raw on the mix and all that [Peter, Anamanaguchi]
New York blipstars Anamanaguchi answered the prayers we should have asked for by delivering a cover of Wavves‘ “So Bored.” Matching Nathan’s intensity and earning bonus points for creativity, Anamanaguchi have given us a must download that is certain to appease lo-fi and 8bit fans alike.
Don’t forget to peep and purchase the guchi bros’ latest release, Dawn Metropolis, here. If you’re new to the 8bit scene, I interviewed Anamanaguchi in March of ‘08 – check it out here and in advance I’m sorry for the awful editing and sound levels.
