For those of you that didn’t make it to the ride this weekend, you can check out this epic footage above. You can also check out pictures here. Not to worry! The FMLY RIDE will be back on April 3rd in LA and will also be in Santa Cruz, San Francisco and a other cities TBA. If you want to help bring FMLY RIDE to your city, email me at cameron@thefmly.com and I will help you get it started.
We are so excited about this show. Kria Brekkan (former lead singer of Mum) and Drawlings will be coming to McWorld on March 24th. Drawlings is the sister of Avey Tare’s Animal Collective and the family blood runs deep as her musicbox-tickertoy music has the same hauntingly beautiful quality. Kria Brekkan has the ability to pull you deep down inside the earth and open up your soul. Her music hits a note with me that goes straight into me. It is uncomfortable but leaves me longing for more. This is going to be a really spectacular show and, personally, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
Few things make me happier than mass hippies chilling in parks. Weed Diamond’s new video is just that. All the clips come from a brief documentary called Hippies in het Vondelpark, 1973 and were made by our blitzed out friend, GOTC.
I’m heading off on tour for the next two weeks following Philip Seymour Hoffman, but when I come back there are going to be so many good words to say about Weed Diamond at SXSW or Oh Fortuna at Total Bummer and maybe how Truman Peyote and I ran into like…Toro Y Moi at the hot sauce shop down the street from Emo’s or something. Really stoked! I wish everyone a fantastic spring break and happy travels, meet new friends, and hang out with old ones. Tell someone how much you love them, and give hugs, hi5s, and bro chest bumps. See you in two weeks!
Saturday start your day right. Grab some instruments, frisbee, ice block, dog, lover and head down to Mary Hotchkiss Park in Santa Monica for a day for chillin, cool peeps, new friends and great music. It’s time for the return of Thank you, Come Again in LA.
The purpose of this event is to strip a concert experience to its birthday suit. We have a performer in their most vulnerable state, an audience, and communal activities for all! Nothing will be handled but good vibes. Remember that when you come to a fmly event, you represent fmly. To those of you who do show up with substances please keep them to yourself, away from the group, and don’t be the one that ruins the day for everyone.
Then after that, it’s time to head over to the FMLY RIDE to bring it through the night with some amazing music. This is a slow ride so if you are new, don”t be afraid, we play nice and welcome everyone. We got postponed last weekend from the rain but weather is looking great so we are back with vengeance bringing the addition of The Entrance Band with us. Also joining us is Rumspringa, Insects vs. Robots, Kid Infinity, 60 Watt Kid and a ton of others. fbook event
It’s almost time to put on your frolicking boots and bust out your frisbees for our first-ever Bay Area Thank You, Come Again! We’ve got a sweet line-up for a beautiful day of jamming, hanging, playing, grubbing, and generally just living it up-ping. Many of these bands will be playing music specifically crafted for this semi-acoustic occasion, and it’ll be neat to see what creative things they come up with.

This is a FREE DAY SHOW in a public environment. Come on time because it gets chilly late in the day!
There will be group jamming throughout the day. Bring your instruments and/ or whatever you have lying around your house. Washboards and tambourines encouraged.
Gainesville’s Total Bummer Fest is in two weeks with oh so many of our favorite bands including Teeth Mountain, Adventure, Truman Peyote, Vacation Dad, Phillip Oskar Augustine, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Emily Reo, Levek, Many Mansions, Blissed Out, Prince Rama, Michael Parallax, and the list goes on and on. The Spirit Cat bros just made a comp that you can download below, and don’t forget to preorder your tickets right here!
FMLY’s Philip Seymour Hoffman and Truman Peyote play at Spin Cycle on Sunday the 20th with Rabbit Punch, Attached Hands, TV CARNAGE, and Panther God. And for residents of Lexington (Kentucky), make sure to hit up Al’s Bar this Sunday (3/14) to peep Idiot Glee, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Trailblazer, and Henry Crawford before they hit up SXSW.
Our BFFz in Total Slacker play the Cake Shop tomorrow to raise funds for the trek down to southby, so if you’re in New Yawk then make your way over to catch ‘em with Big Troubles, Darlings, Sundelles, and more! I slept on a couch recently in the home of a Big Troubles member, so go thank him for me. More info here.
The homie VerBS, I think he’s with Team Zissou or something, came on the FMLY DNR TR and it has seriously taken us thiiiiis long to show mad props, but the dude is a sweetheart machine! He has toured with Murs, has who knows how many jams under his belt, kicks it with Professor Calculus, and of course he is a loved member of the FMLY. Spreading the positive hiphop vibes and being an all around chillster, Kyle has some new tunes that I’m going to throw up on the site because they’re oh so relevant to this week. “Stop Actin’ Like A Douche” has been a hit since we heard it in the tour van, and I’m bringin’ it to SXSW so get ready Tejas! Second jam is a Pizza! loop from my favorite tune, “Bird Dreams” with Kyle droppin’ some well felt words. In short since I’m still packing and dubbing cassettes for sxsw, VERBS IS THE HOMIE. Hip hop needs to go DIY.
Too much of the animal disfigures the civilized human being, too much culture makes a sick animal. - Carl Jung
We’re on a sinking ship and Shaw is somewhere underneath, trying to patch up the cracks – a merman swimming through a sea of heavy reverb, drum machine claps, and harmonic animal noises. Pretending We’re Not Animals - soon to be the first of two five-song EP’s – lyrically traverses the world through the eyes of various creatures, only to unearth a bit about our nature as beat-making beasts. Lyrics aside, this dude’s voice packs a sweet, edgy punch, and we can’t wait to hear what he and his gal have planned for our first-ever Bay Area Thank You, Come Again next weekend.
Check out his site, go to his space, or grab his album here.
