When it comes to our Los Angeles pals I just feel like a victim of Cupid’s arrow, so proud of the music that our frnds are jamming out. Santa Cruz/S.F. transplants Koalacaust ring this oh so true, having played with Mischief Brew, Paul Baribeau, and Andrew Jackson Jihad these youngins are not only living the folk-punk dream but cultivating some of the dankest tunes around. This entire record is ab solid with genuine balls out jams that need to be sung along to. Koalacaust have been everywhere with us, including many of our firsts; our first fmly show, thank you come again, inciting of a riot, and our third fmly ride. We’ve shared some intimate moments and joints with our relocated Bay Area-bros and it’s an honor to offer their debut CD available for a free download.

no longer available at request of totz slackz, but look out for some physical releases soon!
According to Child Bite, “Total Slacker are as cute as buttons,” blending together not only the most bud-heaviest of beach-pop jams but the badass appeal of just being in a band and having the best time. Turning up the reverb until you can’t tell if the banter between songs is still the last tune, the ’slacks are writing uber catchy melodies and the occasional true story about video store rental bros, pandas and basically being way chill. Look out for these tunes and more on a cassette release from FMLY homies Mirror Universe Tapes in early 2010.

Fighting the forces of public noise permit injustices since Nov ‘08, Professor Calculus have built a reputation through LA’s bike scene by wrecking parking lot nights and n00bz 34R dRumZ throughout the greater Los Angeles. Notorious for shooting the shit in back alleys, rooftops, house parties and some health code violating kitchens, Caleb Stone and the rest of the professors fill the voids of living spaces with their instrumental delay-ridden-tap-metal rock…if you’re confused now, they have two bassists. Basically, this is a free album digitally (available above) and you can pick up a physical copy at any FMLY or Professor Calculus show as of November 17. We’re all stoked!

The sounds of Philip Seymour Hoffman serve as an abstract journal where memories, events, people and places take on an audible being. A selection of moments from a 20-year old spanning exactly one year, from November ‘08 through November ‘09, recounting nights of desire, frustration, questioning and way too much fun. The bro behind the Goosebumps mask [who prefers to leave his real name out of this] thanks you for taking the time to listen and hopes that you find something to relate to in these tunes, they’re each more personal than they should be. All tunes on this tape were recorded between the hours of 2am and 5am in a 7′x10′ New York bedroom and the majority of tracks, including lyrics, were improvised during recording. Fire Island is a free digital release via FMLY while The Lighthouse Itself Is The Rocket is a cassette tape with new tunes that drops Novemeber 24 on Breakfast of Champs.
