Real quick! KXLU has some great instudios this week. Today at 5pm Big Whup will be on the air on The Markness and Tomorrow Pizza! will be on at 5pm on the Matt and James show. You can tune in live right here and you can find both bands next week at FMLY’s group hug in Austin.
Wonder Wheel is Paul Rosales, along with homies Raul Esparza and Anthony Bosque. The sheer amount of music they release, makes it a challenge to pick just a couple of their jams to show you so I have some other ways to scope their songs. Life’s Blood is about to release their newest tape, Succotash Xs, Paul posts a bunch of tracks on the Wonder Wheel Blog, and you can cruise down to Irvine to come see them with me at Acrobatics Everyday with Smith Westerns, Audacity, and Cosmonauts.
“Enough already with the Hit & Runs. We deserve a police force which will handle car/cyclist collisions with respect, not one which refers to a reported hit & run as an “accident” when no investigation has taken place.
Apart from that, we still need more supportive police. If LAPD were supportive, across the board, would so many motorists feel comfortable disregarding the rights of cyclists? HELL NO!
Bikeside and the BWC invite you to come to Tuesday’s meeting of the Bicycle Advisory Committee and share your experiences with LAPD as a cyclist, and share your thoughts on how they can improve. Higher ups from LAPD will be present, so this is your chance to have your viewpoint heard and acknowledged. In fact, in my estimation, a better chance than City Council.
Afterward we will head for drinks and food…and a special announcement of new directions in cycling in LA.”

Please come out and let your voice be heard. There are good people on bike and cars and we need to work together.

For those of you that have been in the FMLY for a while, you may remember a series of house shows we did at the Los Angeles FMLY Mansion a couple summers ago. Well since then, the FMLY Mansion has been under construction. Two years and many parties later, we are ready to invite you back. This Saturday at exactly 1pm, Avi Buffalo and The Soft Pack will be chillin and playing some tunes in the FMLY front room. This is part of a series of shows going on through out LA that day in conjunction with FYF. We are all about having a good time but please do remember this is the FMLY Mansion. That means you, as a FMLY member, have a responsibility to respect the house when you are here so we can continue to have a good time.
Our loves over at Breakfast of Champs just dropped their first compilation, Mozart Park All-Stars, for free over at their blog. Here’s a few words from ‘em:
Here you go – BOC006 – Mozart Park All-Stars is our first compilation CD, and it’s now available for FREE FREE FREE download below. To me, these songs embody the current state of bedroom (or apartment, or kitchen, or bathroom…) recording – an array of recording technologies from different eras; an array of instruments, styles, and influences, now imported/exported/re-in-exported to a blur; an array of sounds recorded, not on a studio schedule, but as inspiration strikes, or as quickly as you can get back to the rig. Recorded music is taking on a new form, and it’s happening in our homes and with our friends. Breakfast of Champs Records aims to catalog what we love and what we are exposed to in this musical age of expectation. We hope you enjoy.
The tape premieres new jams from Truman Peyote, Turtle Ambulance, Cloud Nothings, Easyboy, Cop Magnet, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Dropa, Psychedelic Family, and so many more artists that we are sooooo down with. Hit up the tracklist after the jump and download your copy for free right here. Physical cds will be available soon that you can cop at all BoC related shows.
