giveaway: mice parade and hauschka

Mice Parade was originally the solo project of New Yorker Adam Pierce, who has also played in Swirlies, The Dylan Group, HiM, múm, and Philistines Jr.

From its outset, Mice Parade showed a boldly inventive, highly individual take on post-rock / electronica. Featuring guest vocals from Letitia Sadier and Kristin Valtisdóttir, Mice Parade’s most recent eponymously titled offering, released in June 2007, could be seen as a refined take on the ground made over the previous two, merging folk-tinged electronica with the ‘Loveless’ era swoon of My Bloody Valentine, the rhythmic subtlety of Can, and the opaque melodic experiments of Brian Eno. Yet as ever, Mice Parade’s sound is essentially modern, informed by an esoteric palette, retaining a familiar acoustic presence via an uncliched take on folk/world influences. via FatCat]

Mice Parade are homeward bound for New York City and to welcome back Adam Pierce and the gang FMLY is handing out three pairs of tickets for their May 14 show with Hauschka at (le) Poisson Rouge. To win, send me an email at noah@thefmly.com and let me know your biggest summer plan. A winner will be chosen at random this Sunday, May 10.

fun fact: mice parade is an anagram for adam pierce.

The Bird and The Bee Ticket Giveaway

This Monday The Echoplex is hosting a great show with The Bird and The Bee and Juliette Commarege who I had the pleasure of meeting at the last LA FMLY show with The Bird and The Bee; she just happened to be one of the back up singers that night. Both bands are a great mellow way to start your week and we want to help you do it! We have one pair of tickets to give away for this show so if you want to go, email me at cameron@thefmly.com and let me know what your favorite mellow Monday music is.

NY Giveaway: Cut Copy Official Afterparty

Hey New York, it looks like we’re back in action. I’ve got a pair of tickets to give to you for Cut Copy’s official after party at (le) Poisson Rouge on March 21. Cut Copy will headline the event with a DJ Set and accompaniment throughout the night by Daisy O’Dell, Alex English and Knightlife. The event is 21+, so either be of age or have “some sort” of identification that says you’re 21 or over – (le) Poisson Rouge is my favorite venue in the city, so you’re really in for a treat. For the pair send an email to noah@thefmly.com and let me know why you’re excited for summer.

Ticket Giveaway LA #2: Don Caballero

Friday February 13th Spaceland will be graced with Don Caballero, sBach and FMLY friends DD/MM/YYYY for a night of face melting rock. If you haven’t heard these bands yet, don’t worry, I think they will be coming up plenty this year. I saw DD/MM/YYYY at the FMLY CMJ show and without hesitation bought all the vinyl they had to sell me. If you want to go to the Spaceland show this Friday just email me at cameron@thefmly.com.

Subtle This Saturday

As you probably know by now, this Saturday Subtle will be playing at the Knitting Factory. If you want to go, you can buy tickets here or text WASHERE to 467467. I am also giving away 3 more pairs of tickets. Are you feeling lucky?! Email me at cameron@thefmly.com

FMLY Presents: Subtle

FMLY is very proud to present Subtle. If you are unfamiliar with the Oakland-based sextet, it’s time that you familiarize yourself. Using an array of interments including sampler, synth, guitar, cello, winds, electronic and acoustic drums, and Doseone’s rapping, singing, and talking, Subtle takes what you thought of songs and turn it on it’s head. Using a landscape of natural organic sounds and a diverse palate of electronic sounds, categorizing Subtle becomes impossible. Subtle is the future of music existing in every genre at once. Their latest album ExitingARM is a nasty, gritty, serene piece of pop heaven that’ll take you on the rollercoaster ride of a life time.

I have 5 pairs of tickets to give away to this show. If you want ‘em, email me at cameron@thefmly.com
