being it’s still morning…

There are few things Gucci Mane values more than a couple of drinks with close friends as this video demonstrates. Of course right after this video they got into a big tickle pile.

taken by her

A little while ago, I found this Animal Collective cover of My Girls by a band called Taken by Trees; The video for which is above. I really loved the song when I heard it but for whatever reason I never looked into them beyond that. Taken By Trees is Victoria Bergsman; an amazingly beautiful song writer from Sweden. All her songs reflect a direct connection to a natural environment.

weed + hippies + diamond

Few things make me happier than mass hippies chilling in parks. Weed Diamond’s new video is just that. All the clips come from a brief documentary called Hippies in het Vondelpark, 1973 and were made by our blitzed out friend, GOTC.

just for kicks

The fly honeys from the Splinters had their new album drop yesterday and we here at FMLY are puuuuumped. These new tunes still make you wanna boogie down, jump around, and chant along à la Splintered Bridges – but Kick has also got some songs up it’s sleeve that’ll give you a serious dose of gooseflesh. I’d recommend grabbing a convertible, some sunshine, and some sweet shades before putting this on your car stereo. I’d then recommend driving that convertible to Austin and singing along with them at our very own Thank You, Come Again.

In the meantime, director Natalie Tsui’s deadly adorable music video for “Mysterious” does a super job of curbing our Splinters cravings. It’s kinda like Hitchcock on speed, but waaaay cuter.

You can head to the splinterspace or go straight Double Negative records, just for Kicks! (Hah. Get it?)

aaahh, real monsters

All the way from Ireland, Bobby was one of the first dudes to hit us up about being part of the fmly back in the day with his infectiously whistlable Dublin Duck Dispensary project, and it comes with a great smile to spread word that DDD is now No Monster Club! With tunes as fun as these names, we’re way excited to pass on that No Monster Club is dropping a 20track double EP Tropical Decibels Volumes One and Two on Cass/Flick Recordings in a few weeks. Why the change in name? Bobby says, “I HATE MONSTERS.”

everything that shine ain’t always gonna be gold

If Drop Dead Fred mated with a Michel Gondry short they’d defs birth this alternate version of Kid Cudi’s music video for “Pursuit of Happiness”.  Watching this not only gave me a new appreciation for Kid Cudi as a lyricist, it also gave me vertigo!

Directed by Brody Baker, produced by Josh Hartnett and Alex Orlovsky. Peep the OG video here.

down by the river

Our friend Toro y Moi has been quite busy. He’s blessa-ed us with this new video for Talamak off his new release on Carpark Causers Of This . You can catch him at SXSW and all over the country starting this week.

now it’s time to sleep

Pretty haunting homemade video from our frnd Chicho across the pond in Berlin, and it looks like his hair has grown back nicely since we watched him shave it. “Violent” is off of his tape we were a beautiful mess that I’ll post more on once we know about it!

soaking it up

Lemonade makes me thirst for the summer time. I just want to run through the streets naked. This fine piece of film is for Lemonade’s song “Lifted”.

swimming for shore

A couple months ago, we played this band on Public Education but I figured they deserved their own little post. Volcano Choir is the collaboration of Jon Mueller, Chris Rosenau, Jim Schoenecker, Daniel Spack, Justin Vernon, and Thomas Wincek. If these names sound familiar at all, that’s probably because these active Wisconsinites include members of Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) and Collections of Colonies of Bees. Volcano Choir is like a summer day dream in the woods. It is a beautiful blend of the organic and the electronic.
