Daniel Trudeau is Pregnant, and Pregnant shouldn’t be a stranger to FMLY members. His music has been a favorite in this community since long before his exceptional new album Life Hard: I Try was released via Mush Records this past September. We’re excited that he’ll be celebrating FMLY Fest with performances in both LA and Oakland!
I asked Daniel to share some inspirations with the site, and he obliged. Follow the link to see what’s been floating his boat!
Gang Starr: “Moment of Truth”
I had actually never heard this and its SUPER old. I haven’t been truly emotionally provoked by much music lately, and after I heard this a few weeks ago I’ve been listening to it every day.
Oneohtrix Point Never: “Replica”
Until this video, all I had seen out of video collage were Japanese and American cereal and toy commercials. I’ve wanted this video collage thing to evolve bit more. This makes me excited about collage work in videos.
Karlheinz Stockhausen: “Helicopter String Quartet”
Im reading a book called Into a Cosmic Music. It’s a bunch of commentaries on Stockhausen and interviews. I saw this before reading the book or looking into him. He speaks about himself in the third person because he thinks he’s from the mother sun, Sirius. Has a lot to say about the evolution of music and what music should actually be. I watch this video a lot.
Alan Watts: A Conversation with Myself
I used to watch this a lot. Got a lot of clarity out of it. Don’t watch it anymore. Nonetheless, it’s still a fun vid.
Modern Talking – “You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul”
These guys are German (or something). This video always makes me happy — It always conjures a hearty giggle at least. In some way, that’s majorly inspiring.
