hi, how are you

Daniel Johnston – Walking the Cow

With the amount of glee normally reserved for midnight swims and acid sunrises, I’d like to introduce myself as the newest contributor to FMLY.  When I first came across this site a couple years ago it really struck me how congruently social activism and diy music culture could go hand-and-hand.  FMLY was one of the first blogs I saw using the internet to strengthen local music scenes instead of ignoring them.  These are kids my age that are writing grant proposals, putting together highly independent (and inclusive!) events on both coasts, and still finding time to sift through the music filling up their inbox and posting the gems.  Pretty damn inspiring.  Since I’ve moved to Boston I’ve had the opportunity to hang and play with a lot of the FMLY crew and to my surprise they truly do believe in the intrinsic good in people.  They are just as delusional as me!

I promise to write more substantive and less self-focused posts after this but if you feel like connecting more I play in a band called mutual benefit and run a small label called kassette klub out of Boston.

I’m really looking forward to meeting and collaborating with y’all more and maybe we can make this crazy world a little bit more livable, eh?

LOVE
