A recent and massive theft has put the Silent Barn in a position to temporarily close operations, and we are viewing this as an opportunity to begin our transition into a viably permanent, resilient, and safe part of New York City is how the humble buds at the Silent Barn have phrased to our global community that they have just had $15k worth of audio equipment stolen from them… on top of an unfair amount of personal belongings and destruction to the art space. The Silent Barn has been host to several FMLY shows, living quarters for our pals, provided limitless evenings of the forever kind of memories, and proved itself and inhabitants to be some of the sweetest thoughts to float into a practicing reality. The violence which has been inflicted upon those walls resonates throughout diy communities worldwide, and being a part of this reconstruction process is unbelievable when you begin to witness where support is coming from.
The Silent Barn quickly moved through their grieving, and have aimed their focus at how badass this community can rise from such negative ashes. Whether or not you’re able to donate, I highly encourage peeking at the official kickstarter for some inspirational reading material + for any New York area residents make sure to contact silentbarn@gmail.com to see if you could be of any physical or conceptual assistance. After the jump is a list of stolen sound gear, Craigslist and Ebay folk are encouraged to keep a keen eye.
