redefining rape

Destroyer – Chinatown

Republican Congressman Chris Smith has proposed a bill that would redefine rape where cases where a woman is drugged, given excess amounts of alcohol, women with limited mental capacity and even date rape would no longer be covered as rape. Right now federal dollars allocated for abortion only apply in cases of rape, incest or if their lives are being threatened. This bill would push back woman’s rights by decades. As far too many women know, bruises and broken bones do not define rape — it’s defined by a lack of consent. If you care about equal rights, please take a minute to sign this petition by MoveOn.org to help block this bill.

  • this must not be allowed!

  • that is just beyond wrong

  • If an adult woman is given “excess” amounts of alcohol which she WILLINGLY drinks and then WILLINGLY has sex with a man, is that rape? Maybe it will always be this way, but the laws regarding rape seem to cater so much so to women that men often become the victims of stupid, malicious women who throw around false accusations.

If you’ve been drugged or forced, yeah that’s rape. But how many times has some dumb, drunk college girl accused a guy of rape because SHE made a bad choice?

    Where is the line drawn?

  • Obliviously, Scott, women are just playing the system by cashing in on the free abortion train. If you really believe women have an easier time in this society then men do, you need to be taking a different curriculum, my friend.

  • I don’t think Scott was saying women have it “easier” than men. Perhaps his approach was a bit forward to such a sensitive subject, none the less I’d say he has a point. Drunken one night stands happen more often than some of us would like to admit. Rape is violent and should not be tolerated.

According to the clip, I do think there should be some major changes.

    My two cents!
