Did you know that Jandek, who famously didn’t show his face for the first 25 years of his career as a recording musician, is performing on Saturday in Irvine? FMLY friends Acrobatics Everyday are hosting the now-blossoming former recluse’s first Southern California performance after Sam Farzin wrote the man a postcard on a whim. Jandek called Farzin after receiving the postcard, and asked for “a drummer that ‘hits very hard but not very jazzy’ and a bassist that could play ‘very droney.’” Farzin recruited Mike Watt to play bass and Health’s BJ Miller for drums.
At 7:30 pm on January 8th, Jandek plays an all ages show at UC Irvine’s Crystal Cove Auditorium. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Sam’s Acrobatics Everyday website.
