In preparation for tomorrow’s party at Shea Stadium, let’s review the jams. This summer ALASKAS self-released a quick cassette of new pieces, the I Love Life EP. It’s a 14minute foray into a more focused style and method of production, but retains the spirituality evident throughout Set Yourself Free. Noah’s Ark Was A Spaceship have also released a new single this week, Warm Eyes featuring an additional demo and live piece in dedication to Gary Coleman. Shit is wild. WEEKENDS are always up to something new, their Strange Cultures is almost pressed and they’re sportin’ multiple cassettes that I can hardly keep up with and droppin’ jams on compilations left and right as well as maintaining beyond captivating side jams (see: Winks, Brendan Sullivan). Human Resources has just gotten back from a peek around the West Coast and always has some new gear up his sleeve. Say No! To Architecture just graduated in May [with a degree in gettin' roowwwdddyy], is apparently legendary and dead according to Wikipedia, and is just always 100% fucking sweet to witness live and we hear he might bring a full band this time. And my first Philip Seymour Hoffman vinyl [and first release since last year] is coming out on Friday via the fmly recording company, a two-track digital download of new thangs coming out in a couple weeks via Teal FX, and a brand new cassette coming out on Impose next month. This is also the first PSH show in NY since May, due to that beyond epic eurotour. What the “+” means is that Human Resources, Say No! To Architecture, and PSH are performing as a single unit in a round robin style. We play together through and through. See you tomorrow.
