spotlight on: frnds rcrds

Friends Records are our homies out of Baltimore putting out none other than their best of friends best of records, and dammit if these records aren’t just the best of in general. With only four releases under their vinyl-studded belts they number Weekends, Sri Aurobindo (probably not the Sri Aurobindo you’ll find on google), a Future Islands / Lonnie Walker split, and our old pal Height with Friends – not to mention the first cassette release from one of Baltimore’s best kept secrets, INEVERYROOM. Oh, and if you want to get really nerdy you may have noticed by now that the fmly recording company labels as FRC and Friends Records labels as FR for vinyl and FRCS for cassettes, so yeah, we’re talking fmly bloodlines here.

For a little sample of what these bodacious masters and pressers have done, peep a clip one of my favorite live anthems below (the recorded version is seven minutes long). Perfect memories of getting so down on this song with Ross from Totz Slacks at Shea Stadium in May. Make sure to check out the entire catalog and future releases right here.

INEVERYROOM – Little Nums
Height with Friends – Baltimore Highlands (Tobacco remix)

And as a quick super awesome note this Weekends LP, Strange Cultures, was mixed and mastered by Rob Girardi who has also lent his ears and fingers to Beach House, Double Dagger, and Celebration. Get on that!
