The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may re-contextualize the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it.

Two things have seriously been vying for my attention the past few days: chat roulette and augmented reality. Pretty much every other conversation I’ve had involves one or both of those concepts. And each one gives me the willies in its own way, but augmented reality, “where data from the network overlays your view of the real world” – turning your palm into a phone, your glasses into a data-infused, semi-transparent screen, and (oh shit!) your body invisible – won the battle with flying colors. Literally, figuratively, whateveritively [via].
