Is this the first punk song? Originally recorded and released in 1966 the only song which might challenge it for that title would be the Who’s “My Generation”, but as great as it is, that doesn’t quite seem punk. This is a very faithful version from the 2003 edition of Love, and it hasn’t aged a day, sounding just as intense as it did in ‘66…Love, live at Glastonbury.

I’m only a quarter of the way into inflatable mattress‘ real talk for the first time, but anything with the Happy Family brand gets a ‘way tight’ in my book. I’m just waiting for the day when bmore isn’t the standard Baltimore beat and we can hit up a space consistently dj’d with the sounds of Run DMT, Happy Family, teenage Animal Collective, and so on and so forth…I guess when medical marijuana is legal it’ll make more sense to the general public. More words on this tape later, but download it now for free courtesy of Wig Flip Records. And peep that free kisses dream piece!

Woo! Whip! Bam! Croooooow! Blaaaack hooooole, wooooon’t you foooollow me hooome? Sing-a-longs, head bobbing, feet tappin’, hand at the side subtly keeping beat, eyelid lowering, aural pleasure producing. Bump bump bumpin’. Making the sounds that keep the fire lit and roaring, the bowls from never cooking, and the smiles growing are The Great Valley, just one more of the loving sounds to pour out out the Boston area. They’ve got a hearty helping of releases for purchasing, so make sure to hit up the GreatSpace and go shopping. We’ve dropped the name Elephant here and there, but I think the two would make an excellent dream date!

Catchy bass lines on top of more catchy bass lines, Crowcat’s Puzzle Jungle is ridden with passive elements of ambient. Faint noises which impede beats and coast past the mic followed by natural transitions, these tunes feel more like jamming with some friends hangin’ in the room rather than a deliberate named, dated, and released recording. Crowcat is one half of the defunct Sun Energy Sound bearing interesting approaches to a musical landscape. I’ve become pretty fascinated with Hawthorne/Irvine/Long Beach bands recently, there’s something a’brewin down there. Learn more about Crowcat and friends at Psychedelicate Recs!
