Starting Friday, the Global Debate Team at Santee High School (in South Central LA) will begin donating trees to LAUSD schools by bike for the purpose of promoting two methods of reversing climate change: planting CO2-converting trees, and using alternatives to CO2-emitting cars. One of the schools taking part in the event of receiving and nurturing these trees is Venice High, which is where I graduated, Cameron was kicked out of on unfair terms and the spirit of FMLY lives on through Oakgrove fundraisers (not going to get into that though, that’s too many unfair topics for one night).

I’m pretty shaky on the details of this event, but if you’re interested in planting trees in Venice High on Friday then you’re invited to meet at Santee at 11am for a refreshing 14-mile bike ride. Also, tomorrow (Thursday) from 10am through 2pm at the Downtown City Hall Farmer’s Market, Santee will host an environmental expo with exhibits and sponsorship from Million Trees LA, Trees for a Green LA Project, Roots and Shoots (Jane Goodall’s environmental advocacy organization), Tree People, Air Quality Management District, the LA Sanitation Dept, and DWP Food and Water Watch (Take the Tap Back).
