Nick Jozwiak played at FMLY’s Breakfast of Champions last October in NY for CMJ week and it has taken this long for a reaction to settle. Nick is an incredibly gifted musician and theorist studying at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music who consistently inspires and motivates those around him. His abstract and literal approach to familiar instruments and especially those that he has taken in is fascinating to behold and the resulting sounds “got me hypnotized, so mesmerized” if I have the credibility to quote David Archuleta’s “Crush.” I wish that I could articulate the weight that Nick’s recorded sounds bear and how much I believe in them, but enjoy this track recorded in ‘07…one day I’ll post some of his less minimal compositions.
