Hopefully we can all agree that Radiohead is an exceptional group of talented musicians whom we all care very deeply for. Unfortunately for us, the “music biz” and “authentic personalities” like to reach out by covering a Radiohead jam and maybe throwing in a ‘fucking’ here and there for either indie cred, youtube hits or whatever other sick idea brews within their head. An even greater misfortune is that 90% of the time it is “Creep” that is covered and I speak for a global community of fans when I say that we just can’t take it anymore. If KROQ in Los Angeles didn’t kill the tune then Korn did and if Korn didn’t then someone else did…who am I kidding, Korn definitely did.
My point is, there are so many amazing Radiohead tunes. Why do musicians choose to slay the same one over and over and over and over again? Yeah, it’s an incredible sing-a-long and everyone can find a time in their life where “Creep” was incredibly meaningful to their identity, but what about the song’s aura of authenticity? I don’t even know if I could ever even watch Radiohead themselves play creep ever again! Most of these are very well done and I like them quite a bit, and do continue to cover Radiohead, but please choose a different song or show the tune a new light. Walter Benjamin would have a field day on this one.

Radiohead definitely has their music and they do it very well, but they will never achieve the straightforward and honest songwriting of Noel Gallagher. They don’t need to try to be like Oasis and vice versa, but no Radiohead ever has a leg to stand to badmouth them.
well i believe that it wasn’t bad mouthing oasis, but playing that particular song. it would be like if someone picked up the guitar and starting playing phantom planet’s “california.” yeah, it’s a song we all listen to, but is he really gonna be the guy who whips it out and “brings back the 90s” with that one? both songs carry LOTS of baggage and radiohead realizes that about “wonderwall.”
Paul, if I hear you say that Noel Gallagher is better than Radiohead one more time, I’ll hunt you down and come through your door like a f*cking wrecking ball. Is that clear?
