noah’s ark was a spaceship

When it comes to checking out new tunes and discovering talented folks I, as well as anyone else, can certainly become self-indulgent. To offer several examples of what I’m getting at, this blog is no stranger to news of Noah23, Noah York City, Noah and the Whale or Noah Georgeson. Today, I’d like to introduce a new group to the FMLY that I’m proud to share a name with, Noah’s Ark Was A Spaceship.

Coming out of Omaha – and NOT signed to Saddle Creek – NAWAS build structure and dynamic from melodies you could have sworn you listened to in the early 90s (see: “Construction Destruction”) and, from there, proceed to destroy that expectation. Spazzing out on the guitar only provokes the distortion of vocals and from there…well we’re in a whole new ballpark. Pick up a copy of the relevantly-titled My Name Is What Is Your Name here from Slumber Party Records. I’m really feeling this band, so hopefully you are too. Recommended if you like (RIYL) Black Lips, Minus the Bear, and such.

I’ve never done this before, but here are links to download their album and EP. If you like what you hear, then please support the band and the label by purchasing the tunes. To protect this post from any mean words, here’s a quote from Andrew, via.

“…suggest everyone who downloads the album burns at least two copies for someone they know, who in turn will have to burn two copies for someone they know, etc. etc.”

If you are from Slumber Party Recs or NAWAS and would like these links removed then just shoot me an email if you cross this post.

  • Great souls, talent+heart, incredibly gracious. If you like what you hear, do the world a favor and see them live, support them. If anyone deserves it they do.

  • i would be there in a sec if their shows were anywhere near me.

  • I think this blog is really useful and informative. Please keep up the good work it is great to read content on a blog that is not just self obsessed nonsense. I hope I can develop a blog of this standard eventually, although I must admit I find blogging very time consuming and difficult. I wish someone would write a blog on how to produce a really interesting blog like this one.
