So I’m not a great Youtuber, but I’m a big big fan of Breakfast at Sulimay’s and try to keep myself updated with what’s going on in the lives of Bill, Ann and Joe. If you’re new to these, Bill, Ann and Joe are regulars at Sulimay’s and were selected for an album review program. The music is selected by the “show’s” producer and he writes an intro as well as some info on the band for these elderly individuals. Bill is the bro, he generally likes everything and keeps and open mind. I feel like Ann was either a prostitute or a woman of sexual generosity because she makes excessive physical comments and tends to enjoy hip-hop more than anything else. And Joe…well Joe is a real character. A self-proclaimed music critic, Joe takes this job seriously and is the cutest old man you’ll ever set eyes upon. His expressions can say 1,000 words quicker than a sentence could escape him. Anyways, the Sulimay’s crew was just sent Young Jeezy’s latest album along with Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Joe: “I wonder how this thing would go over with some of our more prominent black people who have fought so hard for the black race and then this guy destroys it with a song like this…I mean, we have an African-American President now.”
After that Joe went on to plug Girl Scout Cookies, explain the ostinado in “My Girls” without using the word ostinado and then announce, “I doubt that this group is not gonna get very far from Baltimore, Maryland.” Joe, I love you.
Below is New York Noise with Real Housewives on Animal Collective. Now I took my chances on this being an odd fetish porn, but luckily it was more Jersey-ish mothers spillin’ their beans on “Water Curses.” What I’m curious about is how you can be a “housewife” during a recession – or why you’d let anyone call you a housewife in the first place. I’m also curious as to find out how many porn redirects this post gets if I tag the entry “animal collective,” “old people” and “real housewives.” Hype Machine popular blogs, here we come!
On another Animal Collective note: Avey, Panda and Geologist appeared on La Blogotheque about this time last year and performed “Taste” incorporating sound collage and everyday street objects. Vincent Moon is always on the appealing tip, but this one definitely shows some extra TLC.
I may as well post these while I still have the chance. I’m honestly not a fan of Animal Collective covers, but Blind Man’s Colour pull these off with grace and listen-ability. Sometimes I even find myself jamming out to these instead of authentic MPP! Not to compare the groups, but BMC are rad. For reference, I believe these covers even came out a month before MPP.
