Tobacco is Deadly

Black Moth Super Rainbow’s Tobacco has announced plans to release his debut solo album Fucked Up Friends. I trust anything that Tobacco does and have full faith in this album.
From his press release:
“On F***ed Up Friends, his first solo album, Tobacco explores a darker, starker and altogether more badass dimension of his complex vision. With his group Black Moth Super Rainbow, Tobacco distinguished himself as a master of jagged beats, glowing melodies and pronounced tension. This time, he works alone, in rural Pennsylvania, away from conventions and interference.”

"Paper Planes" on Drums

I’m not sure if this is a Youtube sensation yet, but I keep seeing videos of this same kid drumming to everything from Underoath to M.I.A.. Here’s his video for “Paper Planes” making this around the 400th version available online.

Boredom is Free

Next Friday The Boredoms will be performing 88BoaDrums with 88 drummers selected by The Boredoms who will begin exactly at 8:08 and play for 88 minutes at the La Brea Tar Pits. This is going to be an incredible experience and I highly recommend this FREE event.

Although this event is free, you must get a ticket before hand. They just released a new batch so what are you waiting for?! Get your ticket here!

FMLY Presents …Music Video?

I could not be any happier to announce FMLY’s participation with the Silverlake Lounge in presenting a night with our pal …Music Video?. Creative force Paul Jenkins writes beautiful electro-pop melodies that shine down onto audiences like Postal Service beats mixed with Built to Spill lyrical stylings. You can catch the Arizona singer/songwriter August 6 with Faunts and Stop Revolt, and while you’re there ask Paul what it was like opening for Health. For more show info, please look at our helpful toolbar to the right.

ATTN: FMLY has THREE PAIRS of tickets to give away for this show. If you can tell me which Radiohead song Paul remixed, I’ll send a pair your way. The answer is on his MySpace page. Please send all answers to hi.noahklein@gmail.com or cameronrath@gmail.com.

Movie Corner – Kabluey!

[Noah Klein, me, in the Kabluey suit, pictured with writer/director/actor Scott Prendergast and actress Angela Serafyan]

So while everyone is talking about the Dark Knight – myself included – allow me to introduce you to what I’m putting my money down as the best movie of the year. Kabluey, which is loosely based on director/writer/lead actor Scott Prendergast’s sister, follows the average life of Inept Salman. Salman isn’t a very bright man, not a very motivated man, and is not good with kids. When he hits rock bottom and has to move in with his sister-in-law and absorb her “motherly duties” while his brother is fighting in Iraq, all hell breaks loose in an ‘indier’ Little Miss Sunshine Fashion. Check out the trailer below and then go check out Kabluey, it’s currently playing in Los Angeles at the Sunset 5 and the Regent Showcase.

WHAT WOULD NPH DO?

EARTHQUAKE!!!

(Not LA)

Today in LA the Earth stopped by to remind us who’s in charge with an earthquake of 5.8. I had forgotten what a quake felt like and despite everyone I know gushing about how fun it was (myself included), I can’t help but wonder what will happen when it hits closer and harder but since there is nothing we can do about it and even city council didn’t leave, I suppose all we can do is enjoy life until that day.
